A scheme whereby schoolkids are encouraged to post "anonymously" about fellow pupils bad behaviour, supposedly to help tackle ASBO's.

20 years ago, such an idea would had been welcome but now in this day and age, how many brats are gonna use and abuse this idea to make false accusations against others - parents and teachers even?

as is their wont..kids will post something about a friend, a teacher only to discover it backfires when they are seen on a CCTV and hauled into the principal's office.

The idea probably came from the NoTW in the first place.

It wont work with kids because they have a higher level of loyalty to each other.

It may be trying to brainwash them into this sort of behaviour later in life.

The GESTAPO sat in offices and relied on the Germans to come to them to point out people they needed to arrest who were not in favour of the regime.

In the CULTURAL REVOLUTION in China the kids were encouraged to turn their parents in to the authorities ( who killed them ) if they were not good followers of the party.

In UK 2009 we are fast approaching this sort of STATE where this sort of behaviour will be used to control the population.

Jacqui Smith will soon realise that Sex Offenders need to be branded on the forehead with a STAR or S because the Sarahs Law will not work and this will be the only way that Sex Offenders can be spotted by the General Public. It may be good to put a V on those who may be violent as well.

That thought did cross my mind when I first read this story. It certainly seems to be an attempt to promote and encourage kids to start snitching on one another.

Unfortunately, kids CAN be extremely nasty. Look at how text bullying is rife. Kids do have a rather vindictive streak within them... they'll tease, taunt and bully kids who don't "fit in". I know... I was such a victim. I was regularly bullied simply because I didn't wear or like the same things as everybody else. I was truly Individual and individuality in schools is not welcome. Because of that, I was branded as the school "weirdo". Whilst that worked to my advantage in that it made me a stronger person, sadly not all kids in such a position will see it that way and are living in fear and misery. I do recall it being very lonesome at school... it was Me against Them. That was how it felt. Thank God I finished school 20 years ago... if I was going to school now, I doubt I'd survive or cope given how things have changed for the worse.

I know for a fact that had this mailbox scheme existed whilst I was at school, I would had been accused of all manner of bullshit and been in constant trouble and surveillance despite the fact I was not and never have been a trouble maker. Kids just have it in for you whatever you do or say so will grab any opportunity to get you in trouble. An anonymous mailbox scheme is like a red rag to a bully...

In this day and age where kids HAVE to wear the right type of trainers in order to "fit in", anybody who doesn't fit into their petty minded norms will be getting crucified, so I think this mail box idea is a disaster because you just know some nasty little brats are going to abuse it and land innocent kids into trouble regardless of whether there is CCTV "evidence" or not.

And that is what GETS me about the CCTV plague. Accuse an innocent person of something... surely CCTV footage should be able to prove whether the allegation is a lie or not, but does that get taken into account? I doubt it. And that defeats the whole alleged purpose of CCTV which we are constantly told are there for "our safety", yet crime levels keep on increasing, chavs continue to run amok on rollerblades, bikes and skateboards and what do the Police do? Arrest a 71 year old pensioner for rollerblading. Oh... didn't they use CCTV footage to "prove" the pensioner rollerbladed? Well loads of little chav bastards do far worse... that must be all on CCTV but does anything get done about them? Of course not.

we had one of these at our school, mind you it was in Co. Donegal and god knew all about it before the teachers did anyway.
