Weekend food post... 15 Years, 1 Month ago
Friday night; comfort food. Onions sliced into chunks, friend until soft, added chicken breast nuggets and pieces of apple plus curry powder (mild), salt and pepper. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes and a glass of chilled cider.

"A glass of cider"

Will soon cost you a lot more if certain people have their way.

Do you prefer it to lager with spicy food?

I don't really like alcohol - Waitrose do a delicious low alcohol cider, so I drink that.

It was very tasty; I added chunks of coconut (fresh) which gave it a lovely creamy flavour.

Love coconut ice cream with honey; was at my favourite Thai restaurant a couple of nights ago with two friends, both had never tried Thai food and loved it. She's Italian and was instantly hooked.

Have you tried Westons Organic from Waitrose ? You only need half a bottle with a meal - and though it is not low alochol it is very very lovely.

Sometimes Waitrose also has Frome Valley Dry cider as well - it has a clear bottle. Which again is a cider which is great for summer drinking.

If anyone ever gets a chance to visit MARCLE RIDGE in Herefordire which is part of what is called the Woolhope Dome I do suggest you go and drive / walk stop in the area. Westons do tours of their small cider "factory".

The area itself is very beautiful. Tim Rice and Lloyd Webber stayed in Stoke Edith on the edge of the Ridge to write Jesus Christ Superstar. It has a mythical dragon in a lovely little village called Mordiford where Harry Secombe once did one of his Sunday Night ITV programmes from !! and the BIG CHILL festival is held near Ledbury a few miles away every summer which was featured in last weeks Music Special of Big Issue.

Cider country is very beautiful.

I'm very keen to try Perry - pear cider. I wonder if there are any low alcohol ones?

Many people, like me, are either allergic to alcohol (it is a poison) or prefer non alcoholic or low alcohol drinks with that lovely dry, thirst quenching flavour without the effects.

Sadly most low or non alcohol beers lack genuine flavour.

The reason for low/non alcoholic drinks to taste different to their alcoholic counterparts is that you taste the alcohol.
Try non alcoholic kopparberg.I'm not a fan,but my girlfriend swears by it being as tasty as the real thing.

Sure I've seen it in asda/tescos.
Remember it mostly from visits to witherspoons pubs, where it is exceptionally good value.

Ikea do a pear cider in cans, about £1.20 each - it was alcohol free but now has a low alcohol contant, sweet but quite nice.
