i keep hearing these government information pieces on the radio
it goes like this, "this is the sound of a shopping centre without the sound of a bomb going off etc"
is this the start of rule by fear in the uk ?
it goes something like this, "there are a lot of evil people out there wanting to kill you and destroy your society, but don't worry give us the power and the means and we will be able to look after you and keep you safe"

You are right Mick and many people are now waking up to the diet of "fear" that our government is peddling via the media.

Only yesterday Ms Jackboot Smith was asked on the BBC whether the terror threat was higher now than it used to be - and she completely refused to answer. Only saying the "FEAR" answer - we are about to be attacked.

The UK has had only one successful terror attack in the last 10 years since the IRA gave up mainland terror. Therefore this has been the most PEACEFUL time in my whole lifetime. Yet Ms Smith is on TV saying we are under attack like never before.

The facts do not match the rhetoric from our Government.

The reality is that life is fragile and no amount of laws can protect against both accidents and people who are hell bent on harming other people. We live with far less risk than previous generations but our current Government wants to take so much power on its false claim that we are in permanent danger at a level which is above anything else before that we are now living in a Police State in all but name.

Welcome to reality Mick. Every intelligent person in the UK now sees what is happening. This does not mean that we will never be victims of some nutter(s) - but it means we should live our lives freely where possible and trust that those who are paid ALOT OF MONEY to protect us ( MI5 The Army and other security services ) do their job as well as they can.

New Labour would have capitulated to Hitler in 1940 because they would have been so scared by a REAL war and threat to life on a daily basis that they would have filled their pants and run away.
