I have suggested to the current BBC2 Controller and to the last one - now Head of Archive footage - that reviving the old series with all the clips of huge chart hits from the 80's plus trailers from those giant movies and TV series - Dallas, Back To The Future, Centrefold - updated with me looking at the current US charts and cinema, a la Whicker (what a genius that man is) would be both cheap and enormously good TV.

Of course they will never do it. Why not? Because the BBC is run by tabloid editors and they would print headlines screaming Vile Pervert back on our screens... "what about the "victims"?"... and other such rubbish.

So again our broadcaster will be damaged by brain dead morons on the cheap and cheerful dying red tops.

Sad. But it amuses me to point it out.

If the JUSTICE system is JUST then at the very least anyone who has served a conviction should not be treated any differently that anyone else. The House Of Commons is full of ex Cons !!! and most football clubs. Yet they are not banned.

I don't think that it would be prime time viewing, thats the reserve of mind numbing game shows and soaps. However I'm sure it would make a good retrospective on bbc4. I like Entertainment USA, but much of the material was very topical, about the current tv shows and music.

Never ever saw this before my time but be great for night viewing like the repeats of Old Grey Whistle Test.

What was the other show JK did in the 60's that be good for repeats ?

you must ALWAYS voice your complaint when you see idiotic actions or believe you know a better answer to some castophe being perpetuated by a government body.

I wonder just how many hit records of the 80s owe it to you JK . Not just "Entertainment USA" and "No Limits" but also your brief spots on "Top Of The Pops" when you could turn a record dropping down the charts into a huge hit e.g. "Say Say Say"

I shall be glued to the fourth and final Alan Whicker show tonight at 9pm on BBC2 - why not more shows? It's surely worth 13. Rather like Stephen Fry in America which should have been 50 shows - 1 per state.

By the way Andrew, my 60s series was called Good Evening I'm Jonathan King but there's only one hour of excerpts left - the hour I bought from ITV when the 26 week run ended in 1967... and much of that is up on You Tube. The rest was destroyed (why?).

Like most things from is era instead or having them on a shelf they were wiped to save on film many TV classics suffered from this.
