As was said on this site before the very high end of the market has not been badly affected by the recession. The mega-expensive hotels and restaurants charging £800 for a night are for the rich and famous and others with little financial constraints. Its all the restaurants in the middle that are affected.

do you have to rub these things in ?

It does look very delightful though, and elegant in a nice restrained way. That red Roller of yours must have stood out like a sore thumb !

I'm finding really little evidence in Sydney that there is any great recession..restaurants and nite-spots seemed to be packed to the gills each night but by contrast..the really top restaurants are feeling the pinch as tourism is down.

However the backpacker market..huge always..is thriving as evidenced by the hoards of drunken Brits I encounter each night as they lurch through Kings Cross.
