TOPIC: Britain's got talent

Britain's got talent 14 Years, 11 Months ago
Half the acts on this show have no talent whatsever, and managed to get to the semi-final. DJ Talent was jus a joke and merely chanted out the names of the judges for the audience to repeat taking no skill or talent. Also the Greek dancers Stavros Flatley, again requiring no skill or the drag act who merely mimed along to a backing track.

Also there is no need for the over-rated Ant and Dec to be there. All they do is gigle at the side of the stage like a couple of schoolboys. The acts make the show if anything not there two goons.

Clive James' point of view on R4 a couple of Sunday's ago summarised this tawdry show perfectly.
Saw Susan Boyle in the earlier semi's. Wasn't much good. However, everyone seems to be afraid of ending all the hype and called her a sensation.
She has an okay voice - if she was attractive and slim, she would not have been given a chance. It's a bit patronising, really.

There are a lot of top professional singers with little more than an ok voice. I think Susan Boyle has a very good voice for Cabaret or Theatre. Simon keeps going on about whether people would by the records, but this show is about appearing at the Royal Variety Show. I think he sometimes gets confused with the X-Factor.

For me, Diversity is the best act by far on this year's BGT. Flawless are good but nowhere as imaginative (or diverse). I thought none of the acts on last night's semi were good enough for the RVS.

I agree..she hasn't got a brilliant voice with soul but she can hit some good notes but who would deny the dear lady her time in the sun.

Good for her and I think she will sell a lot of records..especially in the USA which gets much more schmaltzy about things like this.

I hope she doesn't get too let down though. She's never going to be a great cabaret star, more a novelty act but she could make a good living and hopefully, have a nice life.

It does show though that Warhol's "15 minutes fame" thing is just so accurate.

I agree. If a young, slim, good looking lady had Susan Boyle's voice, she would not have made it through the auditions to get on the show.
Simon knows who is going through to the final and organises the semis accordingly, mixing poor acts with his 'chosen'. Most of the acts put on the semis are ridiculous.
Also, does any one else think Piers' hair looks a little suspicious?

everything about Piers looks suspicious.

It was nice to read that Frankie Howerd's lover was buried with Frankie's toupee.
