UKIP go ahead of Labour in the polls !!! 14 Years, 11 Months ago

Stunning news that Labour is now behind UKIP and their poll vote has dropped to just 16% of the electorate and is falling every week.
Brown and Smith are evil - they have destroyed the country and now they are destroying the Labour Party.
Not a single minister has resigned over the expenses scandal - or even apologised and so the row is going to deepen for Labour.
It could be total wipeout in the Euro Elections - and then the General Election will see Labour reduced to a handful of seats in their strongholds - perhaps less than 50 seats.
Labour is finished. The only way Brown can now stage a comeback is by starting a war or holding a terror attack............in the hope that he can cling to power in a national emergency.......

I worked at canvassing for the Tories back in the dark days of 95-97.Exactly the same feeling now for labour. They'll do badly at the europeans, but probally not so badly at a general.
While being clearly fed of of Smith/Harman/Brown and his annoying Balls:laugh: I do not happen to think Cameron will be much better.Changes sound great in campaigns, but look at Obama with his ethical promises, has it changed much?
As for the UKIP,I was in fact a supporter before my charges. However it now appears the EU is a much greater safeguard of my civil liberties,so on reflection my stance has changed.
The BNP,UKIP and the like are protest vote catchers.Any rise in popularity will result in one of the mainstream parties moving in that political direction so as not to loose votes. For example the tories under maggie becoming more right wing in the late 70s after the rise of the NF.
Finally don't forget why people can protest vote better in EU elections, the proportional representation effect. This doesn't exist at the general elections. At present that system favours labour over the tories.
The election is probally lost for labour, but Brown will hang on till the last, like Major before him,and try to milk the system to protect his legacy.
