true..I'm sure there are absolutely amazing and extraordinary stories of the most delicate piece of crockery surviving a firestorm even in Dresden !

But when it supports the official story told, alarm bells go off!

It may be a "huge plane" but if I recollect elementary geography the Atlantic is bigger.

but a plane in pieces ( as we are led to believe ) would come back in pieces to the surface. Only a "complete" plane would have a chance of sinking deep to the floor of the ocean or chunks of it. The smallest pieces would be on the surface within a day....and whatever broke off on impact as well would float.

This idea that nothing could be found for 5 days and the miraculously a ticket and seat with number suddenly pop out of the water is quite astonishing.

what is your scientific basis for saying this?

the programme I watched on an independent French tv channel yesterday gave plenty of reasons why it could be difficult to find the wreckage or in what form they would find it and/or the bodies.

you never give proof of your claims, just reasons why they *could* be true.

I value your contributions here BR, just wish you'd backup you claims.

It BR tried to back-up his claims even he must swiftly notice the inherent contradiction and fallacy.

He prefers his confirmation bias.

BR is giving a number of sceanrios from UFO abduction to a terrorist bomb.

(incidently..Buzz Aldrin has claimed for a long time there were alien bases on the Moon and one of the first US astronauts Leroy Cooper Jr has claimed that the US government has repeatedly covered up alien visitations)

Anything and everything is possible. The majority of family members of those killed in the Lockerbie bomb don't believe the official story.

Despite the rest of America (still) believing Iraq had something to do with 9/11, you would be hard pressed to find a New Yorker who believes the official story.

Wasn't Titanic wreckage found for months after it sank ?

Todays brief news items still dont show anything. We will never know. I doubt if they will find the black box and probably the "cause" of the disappearance will never be known.

The families look devastated.

the weird thing about all the wreckage is that is looks new ! no burn marks ( if it was the storm or bomb ) and does not look as if it has been in the water for a week.....but they have now found the tail with the Air France stripes on it.

They have decided not to announce finds because it upset the relatives at the weekend when they announced the briefcase and laptop....which makes sense.

Still no announcement about black box - which surely must have survived if tail sections can and have floated.

As the days go on, I don't think there is anything wierd about it at all. It is possibly a terrorist incident or possibly a tragic accident caused, possibly, by a series of events as with many air accidents. Bad weather; malfunctioning/badly maintained equipment giving wrong info, leading to a highly automated aircraft to stall and go out of control, completely override the pilots input, and then crashing into deep sea. This aircraft did not 'glide' into the ocean and will have mainly sunk to the bottom of the sea with the passengers strapped to their seats and most of the luggage still in the hold in metal crates.

If this is the scenario, I expect Air France and Airbus are bracing themselves for massive litigative fallout if and when the databoxes are found. What is interesting is the trickling of captains' stories coming out about how, in a (very few) recent incidents, Airbuses been literally acting a bit like HAL 9000 compared to the Boeings that still allow the pilots to override the systems if something goes array. Boeings still have a steering yoke, whereas Airbuses have a computer joystick which doesn't give the same feeling of control and precision and is allegedly difficult to use when controlling an aircraft manually through bad weather.
