Re:Life On Mars was great but Ashes... 14 Years, 11 Months ago
It just doesn't 'feel' like 1982 in any way shape or form.... Strange how they managed to capture the 1970's so well with LOM and yet couldn't convince with Ashes.
They couldn't even get the lead car right, sticking a 21st Century font reg plate (albeit of a 1979 registration number) onto a 1984 car (one that wasn't even produced in right-hand drive form in 81 or 82, and then was more of a bankers/accountants type rather than a a car CID would have used to tonk around in!) is just plain sloppy and suggests the effort made for LOM was discarded for "dead cert" Ashes To Ashes

I watched Life On Mars because it was set in one of my favourite years. When I heard the follow up was to be set in the 80s, I just wasn't inspired, so must admit I didn't watch any of it. I either forgot it was on, or there was something better to do.
On the little details / cars issue, I guess if it's a kind of dream sequence, I suppose it is a kind of dream. Not actually in the 80s.
