Delicious story on Andrew Marr 14 Years, 11 Months ago
by Barry Humphries as Dame Edna on learning Spanish - which got him (her) fired from Vanity Fair for racism.

Barry is a delight. One of my great missing masterpieces as a Producer is Edna's rendition (with different words) of Two Little Girls (Boys) which Rolf Harris (sense of humour failure) surpressed.

If anyone has a copy I'd love one.

Barry Humphries is one of the world's great comic geniuses. He is a world master of language.

Even his children treat Dame Edna as a real person.

About 10 years ago I interviewed Barry in Melbourne for a UK newspaper.

He asked what questions I would ask and then said he'd ring me the following morning. He had prepared the most brilliant answers which were utterly outrageous and completely politically incorrect.

It's one of the oddest things I've ever done..he phoned and after a brief conversation said he would pass the phone over to Dame Edna who spoke to me for around 6 minutes. And then she passed the phone to Sir Les Patterson who was completely vulgur.

I must put the tape to some images and post it on youtube !

I seem to recall that Rolf didn't write the song, so I would assume he did not own the rights. Out of genuine interest, how could he surpress the release of a cover version of a song which he did not own?

I didn't like Andrew Marr's show when it first appeared a couple of years ago. He looked uncomfortable perched on the edge of the sofa. However now I think he is one of the best and most like-able interviewers on tv and this mix of politics, news, and entertainment is a must-see programme on sunday mornings.

As for Mr Humphreys, I like the Dame Edna character, however I found Les Patterson to be quite gruesome. "Les Patterson saves the world" is probably one of the worst films ever made.

Ah, Rolf shrewdly bought the publishing rights Francis and publishers control the rights if you alter either the melody or, in this case, the lyrics.
