TOPIC: Polite police and useful DNA
#46332
Polite police and useful DNA 14 Years, 10 Months ago
We had some dealings with the police again today, about some drunk who'd thrown a can of cider through our window last month.
I'd saved the half full can for fingerprints. The forensics came round next day,the local bobby called by,we were out so he phoned to make sure all was ok.
Now the DNA is matched,so a nice polite plod came to take a statement.
All in all given the horror stories about reporting crime I was most impressed. We even got compensation from victim support to pay for the glass, and the repair was done within 2 days.

Does show that when the system wants to be it can be very useful, and polite,so why can't it be like that all the time?

It is like that 99.9% of the time. You're just reading the tiny minority of cases highlighted in the media, most of which are probably untrue anyway. The media aren't interested in the good policing after all.

You seem to forget Mike I've also been the victim of the police,so has JK.Also video evidence is very hard to call lies.

There will be good police stories. Though in my experience I have not heard many to be fair. The majority of stuff I have read and heard have been negative.

The Police get paid an awful lot of money to do their job properly. We should not therefore be too suprised when they occasionally get it right.

Overall the system isn't so bad. It just happens to be run by people, some bad, some good, some stupid, some just lazy. We see a similar thing in Parliament. Lots of talk about changing the system when, in fact, the system was a good one. It was the MPs who behaved badly, along with those who ran the fees office who did not do their jobs correctly. The rules, as read out on Question Time, were clear and precise, and it was obvious that those MPs who claimed not have broken them actually had broken them. But when people are at fault, it is always the system which is blamed.

If people can they will. The better the system the less they can etc.
Actually both parliament and the police are prime examples of a system planned long ago that has evolved to suit the operators, not the public.
Just take a look at what the system allows to happen
Some of the people in the police may well be salvagable, but the majority not,and good ridance to bad rubbish.

I haven't forgotten and I don't recall JK being the victim of the police. It was the CPS that did him via the media, publicists and certain lawyers.

Video evidence I don't disagree with. Stories in the media I do.
