TOPIC: Boring domestic story?

Boring domestic story? 14 Years, 10 Months ago
Or not so boring?
Yesterday the carpet men came round to replace my carpet in the bathroom which was falling apart; huge patches that looked like they had been chewed by mice or rats.

Ot it could have been the dampness causing the material to rot.

No; it turned out it was KILLER MOTHS.

They said they had spent weeks and weeks in the House of Commons doing the same thing. Nobody seems to have noticed the rise of these moths.

They have always nibbled but these days they are doing serious damage.

I think it's the southern heat and humidity which makes them thrive. No such cases in the North of England, yet, so far as I know.

Nowhere else have I encountered carpets in bathrooms.... eek, think of how much dirty water they soak up over the years.....

Yes I know David; not just English but old fashioned; most friends say NO NO NO to fitted carpets in the bathroom but I love the soft feel of deep pile under foot at all times and I do have a very large rubber backed bathmat for stepping out... virtually no water, dirty or otherwise, lands on the carpet!

We banished carpets from the house as we have a dog and live in the country. Mud and hair are much easier to clear/hoover off wooden floors. We have fitted very soft carpets to the stairs as our elderly collie is not so steady on his feet and so it provides a softer fall in case he takes a tumble. It is lovely to feel this underbarefoot and avoids feet splinters.

Incidentally I saw a giant moth (more a mouse with wings) stubbornly attached to our blinds the other day.

Unless a man sits down to take a pee, there always seems to be 'splashback' over nearby surfaces (including floors) no matter how accurately they point.
