Mrs Slocombe in "Are You Being Served" and Nellie Harvey in Coronation Street. Aged 84 after a long illness.

My apologies. Mollie was 86. She wasnt the oldest of the surviving AYBS cast. That acollade goes to Frank Thornton who is now 88.

I loved Miss Slocombe especially as she reminded me of my favourite aunt. My aunt was really insulted when I told her so but it was meant as a compliment.

I remember her fondly as Sandra's rather snobbish mother in The Liver Birds. Also in ITV's That's My Boy, among other things.

I always thought Molly would have made a wonderful Miss Marple.

Great idea Al; wish you'd had it 20 years ago.
She would have been far better replacing the fabulous Joan Hickson instead of awful Geraldine McKewan.

I did have it 20 years ago, since I saw her being interviewed and knew she had far more in her than routine comedy. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to influence.
