Murdoch's slipping grasp on the media 14 Years, 10 Months ago
John Hartigan, another beloved Murdoch apparatchik and boss of his Australian branch of News Ltd gave a speech at the Press Club in Canberra lambasting 'bloggers' and on-line news sites as 'unreliable' and not reporting news(despite all News Ltd newspapers carrying a host of right-wing bloggers and columnists).

Bizarrely he then went onto [praise News Ltd's own new blog "Punch' which has about as much punch as a wet lettuce leaf whilst fumigating about "faux" blogs like the highly successful crikey.com.au(sold for $1.2M by it's creator-a sacked News Ltd journalist who used his last $5K to build the site over 5 years and break numerous stories)

Hartigan claims most News Ltd titles would increasingly be charging for on-line content after the recently purchased Wall Street Journal (Murdoch paid about 4 times what it's worth) successfully doing so with 20% of it's content.

But that content is specialised financial news and reports paid for by big companies.

Will the average punter set up accounts to pay for the rubbish in The Sun & News of The World ?. I doubt it.

Lachlan Murdoch (who has sold his shares and fled the corporation) famously told journalists at the Sydney HQ of News Ltd in the late 1990's not to use the net as it was a 'passing fad".

Sinking slowly in the West..

The word on conspiracy sites is that the ROTHSCHILDS have moved in to BSKYB to shore it up.....basically picking off the Murdoch Empire for their NWO project.....

Not being a media type I dont know whether this is true or not ? Anyone with any knowledge about this ?

Maybe Murdoch will have to sell out to the bankers as his empire collapses.

So whilst we may celebrate the end of a very cynical empire - it could be a worry about exactly who takes his place......sometimes "better the devil you know" ?
