I burned my thumb cooking sausages 3 weeks ago (one dropped off the fork and splashed hot fat on me); not badly; straight under cold tap but it made a blister which burst; it's taken 3 weeks and the scab has still not totally healed.

A few years ago it would have taken 3 days.

That will be because you're diabetic JK. You have to be extra careful with toes and fingers as the blood circulation is not as good as someone who doesn't have diabetes. Blistering will take longer to heal. Maybe grill them next time or wear gloves !

I've never suffered from ageism. I've always liked people of any age,old and young.

But you have brought up an interesting aspect of aging-the recover time. I'm finding the same..a small wound takes forevery to heal.

Plus 2 knee replacements..not from age but caused by old accidents are taking forever to settle in and my doctor won't give me any of those nice halucination inducing painkillers any more.

But's it all to do with genes isn't it ?

Infuriatingly, my best pal who is a journalist is up at 6am and runs every morning for miles,runs around all day and then parties all night still scoring the occasional date.

And he's 80. So annoying.
