If you want to talk to children in any setting ( or vulnerable adults ) this act will apply. You will need GOVERNMENT CLEARANCE.

It CREATES ABOUT 300 NEW CRIMINAL OFFENCES.

If you go to work in the NHS - SCHOOLS or LOCAL AUTHORITIES and you come into contact with children more than once a month ( Almost every job ) You now need a CERTIFICATE TO PROVE YOU ARE NOT A VILE PERVERT.

If any of these places lets you IN THEIR DOORS then they will be arrested and put in prison for up to 10 years.

In the same way the TERRORIST ACTS have created laws that are applied on people that have are perfectly innocent ( Thousands stopped and searched under the TERROR LAWS - no arrests !!!) this PAEDO ACT criminalises EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE UK>

So Parents helping with activities could see themselves arrested if they have not got a CERTIFICATE OF NON PERVERTEDNESS and TEACHERS arrested if they dont ask to see this CERTIFICATE before asking a parent or expert to come in to talk to the kids.

They say it is for regular contact with kids ( 12 times a year ) but how do peeople KNOW how many times each year they will be asked ? So when do you apply ?

THIS IS DESTROYING ANY TRUST BETWEEN ADULTS AND CHILDREN LEFT IN SOCIETY. All ADULTS are now PAEDOPHILES UNLESS THEY HAVE A CERTIFICATE TO PROVE THEY ARE NOT. THIS IS THE LAW FROM OCTOBER. BE WARNED - THIS IS A NAZI STATE.

It certainly is going that way. Soon, we won't be able to do anything without breaking some law or other. Also, every adult in the country, all forty-five million of us, is now clearly regarded as a child molester unless it can be proved otherwise...and how do you prove a negative? I make a distinction here between a child molestor and a paedophile. So far, it is not illegal to be attracted to children (how can it be?), as long as you don't touch them. But the new law is another step on the way to making such attractions illegal in themselves. In other words, making illegal what a person thinks and feels, rather than what they do.

Once this precedent has been established, the way will be open to curb thoughts and feelings and opinions about anything else that the government doesn't agree with you feeling and thinking and doing. Fortunately for the authorities, most people will not challenge this, as to do so may make them appear to be pro-peadophile when they're not. And the authorities are taking great advantage of this in order to bring in more draconian laws that affect our right to think and feel and do what we like as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. Eventually, things in this country will get like Rome under Caligula, as depicted in the film "Demetrius and the Gladiators."

Already, a group of authors of children's books, who go regularly to schools to read their novels to the assembled children (and teachers) are refusing to sign the declaration and are not going into the schools any more. As one of them said on television yesterday: "I refuse to sign a paper declaring that I am not a peadophile. What kind of impression does that give of me to a child?"

It's fairly obvius why the government keep introducing these new laws. Nothing to do with child protection or anti-terrorism. It's all about forcing each one of us onto some kind of database. Eventually all the little databases will be linked up to create one centralised database (in our own interests, of course), by which the time the government will have total control over every pary of our lives.

To avoid it we'll have to drop out of society and become hermits, although I'm sure they'll soon find a way of criminalising that too. Non-conformists undermine stability.

personally I can't stand being around the annoying little blighters with their sticky hands but after trying to plow through that mish-mash of "barred persons" I still couldn't find what one actually has to do to get on the list.

Sadly I think you have hit the nail on the head.

This is about control. Rather than all are innocent until proven guilty - now we all have to prove our innocence.

Basically ANYONE without this CERTIFICATE will be treated as a POTENTIAL CHILD MOLESTER.

I have CRB ( Enhanced ) Certificate : which luckily was paid for by someone else. At the time I thought it was a good idea for people who lecture etc. but now it is applying to the WHOLE population via this NEW scheme I dont agree with that.

Teachers - Lecturers - Doctors and Nurses and Police should have CRB checks. But no one else.

We have all been misled once again by this Government. They promised CRB checks would only apply to a few people and would not be rolled out to everyone. And here we are a few years later when even a person who volunteers in a school once a month now has to have a certificate of innocence.

Surely the SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER keeps a list of all people who are barred in the UK ? Or have I imagined that there is such a thing.

How can someone who is NOT on that register be banned from working with children ? or vulnerable adults ? on what new basis are they going to do that ? Your POLITICAL BELIEFS - YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ?

This smacks of BIG BROTHER state - and is the "reserve plan" just in case ID Cards were not affordable or got turned down.

People should act like PULLMAN and boycott it.

But there was a GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN on BBC last night who said anyone who did not back the scheme obviously had something to hide. That is ORWELLIAN DOUBLESPEAK at its best.

Anyone who thinks I am "OTT" about this stuff needs to wake up fast - it is happening on a daily drip by drip basis and if you cant see that then I really despair of your view of freedom.

This country is becoming a prison in the sense that we are restricted in what we can say and where we can go by having to have the correct paperwork or the correct thoughts.

The people not on the register will include people who were accused but either not convicted or were found not guilty. They've decided that a not guilty verdict no longer means not guilty, it just means you "got away with it" and so they have decided to make sure that you can never get away with it again, even though you probably didn't do anything in the first place.

Far better to give kids the impression that everyone is a danger and the world is entirely evil.

Actually, a CRB check proves nothing. It only shows at best that a person has never been convicted of a sexual offence against a minor and at worst that if they have ever done something like that, they haven't been caught. It also shows that even if they have a spotless record, there's no telling what you may do in the future. In fact, there's no telling what any of us may do in the future, is there? So people should only be arrested for what they have done and not for what they may or may not do in times yet to come.

Its not the bloody children who need protecting anymore, its the adults.

and these children will be adults one day. Hopefully, they'll then realise what a nightmare their parents generation has been put through and they'll take steps to reverse all this nonsense. We can hope.

DR2 - if the CRB check proves nothing then why do we spend billions each year running this system ?

I think there has to be some record of those who are convicted of offences - I realise that in some cases those are unsafe but there has to be some method of keeping those who are a threat to children/others out of jobs where they could do damage.

However, like others on here I think the CRB and the Certificate could be replaced by being on the Sex Offenders Register - so that only those convicted of any offence are targeted.

At the moment the Government officials decide whether you get a CRB certificate or this other Certificate - yet there is no published list of things which can be included on such things. This means they can remove someone's right to work just because they support a political party or have views about religion they dont like. That is CONTROL and is WRONG.

We are now in a society where the GOVERNMENT is a fasicst dictatorship. We cant work without their approved paperwork in maybe 70% of jobs. This paperwork to all intents is mainly secret and has no published form and in CRB checks has no right of appeal. This is TOTAL POWER by Brown and his stooges.

Only the creative types and manual workers are now outside of these "employment restrictions" - the rest of the UK including the unemployed are now controlled by the Government.

They are attempting to control music and so on with a new POLICE FORM - which venues have to fill out to see whether each band member and staff member are "suitable" - the Police close the event if they are not.

If you have not all noticed we are now in a Police State. A Police State is not armed police on every street corner - it is when your freedom requires permission from the Police/State. We are now not free in the UK. Every aspect of our life is filmed and everything we do needs paperwork. This is incredible that the CLEVER people in the UK have allowed this to happen without protest.

The UK has to have the most stupid population in the World.
