Update : Freedom Protester now in prison 14 Years, 9 Months ago
Today DARREN POLLARD became the first FREEDOM PROTESTER jailed for just believing in free speech.

This video shows the moment when the Police arrested him after he had attended the court hearing over his previous protest.

You can see from the video that this man is a peaceful protester and family man. He is a believer in FREEDOM OF SPEECH which has never before been an arrestable offence in the UK.

This man has done nothing wrong - he has broken no law - he has just questioned the "Police State" in the UK.

Tomorrow he will appear in Court again to "Prove his identity - the reason given by the Magistrate/Judge for holding him "

As a UK CITIZEN we now have to give our fingerprints and DNA to prove our ID or we can be arrested and put into prison until our identity is proven.

This is now the law and this case has set precedent for this.

Be warned - this could happen to ANYONE who disagrees with the current GOVERNMENT.

If you wanted HARD EVIDENCE of the Police State then this surely is the video.

This story is the 2009 Version of THE SUFFRAJETS or NELSON MANDELA in the UK.

I fear for all of you who have not questioned this government - so you have not tasted their "Justice" yet. Remember in Nazi Germany as long as you went along with the Nazis and never questioned them you were free.......

That is not freedom.

That is not what our Grandparents fought for in two bloody world wars and what our wonderful country stands for.

We need to get rid of BROWN and his FASCIST JUNTA - who are unelected. We need to rebuild the UK again. If CAMERON does not reverse the legislation that bans free speech then we need to take to the streets in peaceful protest.

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a report of this on the television news...and if they haven't shown it, I wonder why not. And why have these videos been uploaded in the wrong aspect ratio, with the image all squeezed and everybody looking tall and thin?

It seems to me that Darren was arrested for disturbing the peace by walking around Nottingham shouting into a loud hailer and making a nuisance of himself. He should have stood on a box in the square, without a loud hailer and talked to anybody who would listen, like the Bible-thumping preachers who stand in the market square of my own city, going on about the second coming of Jesus and urging people to repent their sins today and all that. Few people take any notice of them, including the police and they never get arrested and walked off in handcuffs.

Despite the image on the first video being as distorted as this one, it was plain to see that Darren's ten years old son was very upset at the sight of his father getting himself arrested by making a fool of himself in public and embarrassing his young son. Well, that's what it comes across as.

If the police were really as bad as BR paints them in this case, they would have called up reinforcements and arrested those videoing the arrest and confiscated their camera.

You were not watching the right video.

Darren Pollard never stood on any boxes. He was walking with a megaphone. There are no laws against the use of megaphones by the way. They are legitimate things. Basically talking loudly is still allowed in the UK.

In fact the court this morning dismissed all the Police charges and freed Darren Pollard.

I fully believed they would because the man was arrested by the Police to prevent him talking. Not because he had broken any law.

I am pleased to say that our courts still respect free speech when they have the opportunity to examine the facts of cases.

However, like with anyone else arrested Darren will have had his fingerprints taken and his DNA and he will also have a record of staying in prison ( albeit for one day )

Remember this is a totally innocent man who has been kept in prison.......this surely should upset everyone reading this.

It could be you next ? Just by reading sites like this you will have a record with your ISP : and the Police have that record. At some point because there is freedom of speech on this site ( and maybe others you have visited ) you may come into contact with the Police ( for instance if your car is broken into ) and then WHAM !!! you will find that far from being a victim you will become someone to be investigated as an potential enemy of the Police State of the UK.

This is happening to thousands of people EVERY week. We dont even need to go into shopping centres with megaphones - just by posting stuff like this I suffered 4 years of harassment by the Police - who also took £50K of my personal belongings and have never returned them to me. Before you ask - if someone steals from you....who would you report it to......yes the Police....so you see the problem. My lawyers failed to even find out where they were storing my stuff and after 6 months of trying gave up saying they could not get the stuff back ( This was a TOP lawyers in London I might add)

The great news today is that Darren Pollard who was innocent of breaking the law is now out of prison and free.

Was he in prison or was he in a police cell? There is a slight difference although they both deny you liberty.

My brother in law preaches every Saturday in his home town. He does not use a megaphone or block anyone's right of way, but he has been arrested a couple of times, although quickly released afterwards. He was informed that they have to arrest him if someone makes a complaint. If nobody complains then the police won't interfere. I guess his details will all be on the database now too.

Actually, I think using a megaphone does require permission from the local council in some places.

Yes, I know that he was walking through the streets with his megaphone and not standing on a box, BR. But honestly, all your posts are so negative and full of conspiracy's...always them against us. You must be worrying yourself to death. Can you think of any good news to post on here instead of all this bad news?

This is a good news story.

It shows that our justice system can still work despite the rogue Police elements.

He spent a night in HMP WINSTON GREEN .....I have no idea if that is a real prison or an open prison or a high security prison. I have no knowledge of prisons or how they are run or where they are.

The fact that an innocent man spent even ONE night in a prison cell should concern us all.

Today the HARRY POTTER star who BROKE THE LAW and grew CANNABIS plants only received a 120 hour community order.

This shows the problem - jail for someone who had not broken any law and community service to a convicted drug producer.

How can that be fair ?

I have had £50K of my personal belongings taken the the Police ( Stolen ) yet I cant get them back and yet I run no criminal network - I have no criminal record and until I started blogging about freedom I have never had a Policeman knock on my front door.

I am quite happy to meet anyone from this forum in London and show them the legal letters about this. It is fact. This is what is happening in our society.

When / If the Tories win next year I will be trying to get my belongings back hoping that they do not support what has been happening in the UK under New Labour. I am confident I will get justice for this in the end.

I dont bring bad news. I bring a warning that if we dont stand up and be counted then bad things will happen. If you want to have your heads in the sand then dont read my one thread a day on here. If you believe in freedom and want to stay up to date with what is happening ( not conspiracy - how can someone being arrested and put in prison last night be a conspiracy >? ) and want to know the truth about what the papers cant report - then carry on reading.

Remember FOR EVIL TO SUCCEED ALL IT REQUIRES IS GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING. We caretake our freedom for our society - we must look after it. All of us. Otherwise we will lose it because evil exists in our world. We ( The good people ) are the majority in my opinion. Love and Freedom will always win through.

I am a bit perplexed about why he was being arrested-there should have been a bit of a talk-over explaining but it does show that you can turn all these new intrusive medias things like cameras to your advantage.

Personally-I reckon there should be more people walking around with loud hailers-in fact I'd like to see real citizen disobedience-hundreds of roller skating pensioners with megaphones invading shopping plazas to get their grievances across.

they should hire me to do their PR.

I'm confused here. How can someone be allowed to walk around town with a megaphone, making a nuisance of himself and not expect to find himself arrested? I'm not a big fan of the Police but if they keep selfish people like Darren off our streets them I'm all for it. By the way, is everyone with a Brummie accent called Darren? It seems so appropriate.

Yes I agree completely Angel - lets arrest everyone we dont agree with or who annoys us.

I would like to see all Liverpool fans who sing on the way to games in the streets arrested and jailed.

I would like to see all those people who leave concerts and sing together annoying us all on the tube late at night arrested.

I would like to see every Labour Party megaphone wielding person in Town Centres arrested for spreading their poison.

Hell - I would love to shut people up everywhere and make everyone be quiet.

Not only that I agree with you. Anyone called DARREN who comes from Birmingham should be arrested for having a crap name.

In fact these names should lead to instant arrest on our streets : Dwayne - Wayne - Waynetta - Vicky - Sharon - Darren ( of course ) .....and I am sure I could think of more given the time.

Yes lets arrest everyone who works in Banks and who has screwed the rest of us out of BILLIONS ! and why stop there. Lets arrest the MPs who have fiddled their expenses. Lets arrest and jail everyone who smokes cannabis.

So that in an ideal world Angel - you can be left alone - and me of course. With everyone else in jail who dont agree with us or come up our standards.

It is wonderful being a snob - a classless society.

I have a mail from the Conservative who lead the debate of changing the current DNA / fingerprints rules in the House of Commons. He makes it clear that any future Conservative government will repeal this legislation. The LibDems also oppose it.

We have lost more of our freedoms under "New Labour" than under any other government in history (and that includes the Civil War years).

Totally out of context BR. I'm not asking for everyone to be quiet. Let folk like Darren get his way and you'll open the flood gates to every nutter in town. Football fans, Politicians with megaphones etc are organised affairs. You live in an ideal world BR where Coppers cant even address "Darrens" by their bloody surname. Common sense is whats missing here. Is that too much to ask?

I agree - common sense is exactly what is needed.

To arrest Darren took five police off the beat for 2 hours. Cost at £100 each per hour. £1000

Paperwork for court : Cost £1000

Time in Court : Two Days Cost £10,000

Custody in Police Station : Cost £2,000

Custody in Prison One Night : Cost £1,000 ( maybe more )

Total Cost of arrest £15,000

Does talking down a megaphone warrant £15,000 of taxpayers money ?

The answer is no. The Police should have considered this when they were being heavy handed. They could have released him at the Police Station without charge and with a warning about future behaviour. They could have gone down the ASBO route if others had complained ( Which they did not so they could not go down that route )

Darren was not offending anyone. In fact everyone there seemed to be enjoying his speech. What is wrong with that ? Common sense was lost by the Police.
