Jo Whiley marginalised by the beeb 14 Years, 9 Months ago
I think it is disgraceful, the way that Jo Whiley has been treated by the bbc. After 8 years Jo has been moved from her prestigious weekday morning radio 1 show and moved to an obscure weekend slot (i.e a departure lounge). The worst of it, is that she has been replaced by bimbette Fearne Cotton who has shown no loyalty to the beeb at all. She defected to ITV2 and when she hosted the radio 1 chart show, she rarely turned up.
Jo is a respected broadcaster, she is passionate about music and often promotes new bands. She is respected by young and old listeners alike. On the other hand Fearne Cotton (lovely, though she is) is a high octane, fluffy presenter who will dumb down the show. This is all about the bbc's seemingly new ageist policy which has seen Moira Stewart, Fiona Bruce, and Arlene Phillips fall by the wayside. (That is a seperate post all by itself). Please bbc listen to the listeners and not your marketing department.
