A friend of mine is working for UKIP so I hope they do well although I'm totally pro Europe and wouldn't vote UKIP myself!

Probably like to see the Greens win though I wouldn't vote for them either.

Isn't that the Monster Raving Loony Party, or did they change their name to confuse us?

I met Lord Sutch when he stood at a by-election in my local area and he seemed a very nice guy. I don't know who runs the party now. I wonder if their chairman is still a cat.

I'm a euro-sceptic but wouldn't vote UKIP in a million years after seeing how corrupt those at the very top of the party are. One MEP ended up in prison (Ashley Mote) another (Tom Wise) is currently awaiting trail for serious misuse of public money. Another (Derek Clark) is currently being investigated by OLAF, while current party leader (Nigel Farage) has been convicted of misusing party funds.
There are many, many decent people at the grass roots level in the party who are there for the right reasons, but UKIP are certainly NOT the solution to our current political crisis.

When was Nigel Farage convicted of misusing party funds? I'd not heard that before, and I can find no reference to it.

All I found was, in the google index, was "On 12 September 2006, Nigel Farage was elected leader of UKIP with 45% of the ... after being convicted in 2000 of embezzling £2 million from government ...". On looking at the actual website I found that it was someone else who had been convicted and that Nigel Farage had refered to him in a speech, which is why it was included in the same paragraph.

Farage has been accused of claiming about £2m in expenses over a ten year period, but I don't have all the details of that. He claims that this was a misrepresentation. Apparently, every five years, each MEP is given around £1m to cover expenses of hiring staff, travel, etc. If this is so, then Nigel Farage is hardly stepping out of line with the rest.

Well, I don't find it acceptable behaviour from a party leader, and I don't see 'moral relativity' as a valid defence.
A few years back, UKIP set up a call centre in Ashford in Kent. It was the job of the staff to phone up members and supporters and, using what I considered to be quite aggressive tactics, ask them for donations (I won't go into the ins and outs of it on here).
90% of the money raised at Ashford never reached the party. I wonder where it ended up.
As for Farage's current activities, you may be interested to know that he is currently forming a racist, anti homosexual, xenophobic and violent pan European political group to sit in the European Parliament (they'll receive more public money if he manages to do this).
It's hardly the sort of organisation I'd like to be involved with now.

Every MP who fiddled their expenses of ANY party should be voted out.
