This is an appalling case. This poor teacher. If you or I had a relationship with a 17 year old then we would not face prison or a court case. If the POLICE who arrested her had a relationship with this person they would not be facing court either.

This is another very BAD LAW which NEW LABOUR has passed to try and discriminate against people they dont like.

Any teacher can now be taken to court ( as we know evidence is not required ) on the say so of someone who is 16 or 17. If a teacher TURNS down an advance - then this is one of the possible things that may happen if the teen is hormonally supercharged.

Why are TEACHERS treated so badly in the UK ? This women should have been sacked for misconduct or warned that she should not have any relationship with a student. That is enough.

TEACHERS now have differing laws of consent.

If you are a TEACHER and you have a relationship with someone in your school but you dont teach them - then is that OK ? what happens if they are the friend of someone who is at your school ?

Does this mean that TEACHERS can no longer go to their local pub or nightclub to date - because the chances of seeing a student ( and not recognising them ) are incredibly high. You could arrive at school on Monday morning to find out that you have been with little Jimmy or Jemina from the Upper Sixth.......schools have over 1000 students these days on average and teacher know less than 300 of them by name if they have been teaching there for less than a few years.

This GOVERNMENT has destroyed education. Every TEACHER is now a suspected PAEDOPHILE even though they may never have any relationship as an adult with an under 16 year old.

I do hope the TORIES get rid of this particular law and turn it back into a school misconduct issue. This should not be clogging up the courts of the UK. This women if there was hard evidence should have been asked to leave that particular school and reconsider her career in teaching.
