a nice controversy raging in Oz concerning one of the world's least amusing DJs called Kyle Sandilands who had a 14 year old girl in his studio wired up to a lie detector machine (with her mother's consent) who blurted out-when grilled by Sandilands, that she had been raped at 14.

Sandilands-a most unfunny goose who thinks so yesterday shock tactics are still thrilling (sadly a very funny British DJ called Ugly Phil who had just returned from the UK was sacked to put this bozo on air)..then went on to ask the girl if that was the only sexual experience she had ever had.

Needless to say all hell has broken loose and the tabloids are having a field day.

This is like manna from heaven for the tabloids especially Uncle Rupert's rags who are screeching shock, horror and outrage demanding heads roll and all manner of dire punishments-and at the same time kindly providing a link to the offending exert on all their newspaper websites including the woeful and rapidly plunging "Punch'..Murdoch's sad attempt to create a riveting web blog that is sinking into a morass of sheer boredom as readers fall asleep in mid sentence.

It can't get any better than this..child sex, rape, neglect- you name it and for once it's on a rival radio network so News Ltd can poach the offended advertisers. I give it about 8 hours before it's featured on the charming Matt Drudge site.

There's nothing like kiddie porn or child sex to ropes the punters in.

I doubt however Max Clifford's local clone-Max Markson will be signing up this poor girl and her nutty mum..even he has standards that Clifford or Sandilands (who killed of Big Brother with his terrible hosting)lack.

Using the rape of a 12 year old girl as part of entertainment has to be one of the worst things the media could do.

Surely this radio station should be closed down ?

the age of consent in most States is 16 but this 'lie detector' stunt had been touted around many radio stations (by the machine's manufacturers) before Sandilands took it up. It's all rather sad and relies on broke mums getting their kids on radio to confess something to win a pathetic prize. I think it's probably now about to be binned as the Old Bill are now involved.

In an odd twist , Sandiland's co-host Jackie O was once married to Ugly Phil who left for his homeland the UK to front Kerrang Radio 105.2, but hasn't fared to well even though he's a really witty guy.

'Big Brother' was rating incredibly well until the last series when Sandilands fronted it and ratings began plumetting from day one until the network killed it off and he once caled a police officer who ticketed him an 'aresehole' on air-sensibly he's changed cars since then.

I notice the story still hasn't hit Drudge yet although there are some other juicy stories there including-

"Shopaholic died under purchases-found underneath pile of clothing"

and;

"Police SC man charged with having sex with horse"

I love Matt Drudge despite his endless right-wing pumping. He's managed to show that a penniless man can create a media outlet that gets more readers than any newspaper empire and all done on a laptop.

I'll be calling into my local favourite coffee shop today to hear the latest Yiddish jokes from it's lovable owner Graeme Goldberg who hails from the East End and is the only person in the world to get an autograph and a photo out of Bob Dylan. Sandilands is usually there and glares at me everytime I pull out my little camera and place it on the tablee. I'm not sure if it's because he thinks I might take his snap or never have.
