Wonderful holiday picture from 1974 14 Years, 9 Months ago
Old friend Nicky just got in touch and sent me this marvellous pic of him, me and our friend the late Michael Summerton in Cannes in 1974 on the Ondine beach from where, sadly, having lunch a few weeks ago, I texted Michael only to get back the last text he ever sent saying "in hospital for pain relief. Will call you when feeling better". He never did and died 4 days later.

well knock me down with a feather..I've had so many wonderful adventures with Nicky-and doesn't he have a brilliant singing voice ?
I used to drive him around in Sydney when he lived here for a while to all the big club entertainment competitions and he used to win hands down.
I hope you don't mind if I download the pic-I've got some great videos of Nicky singing at various clubs and a mutual friend is trying to get us to all meet up in Asia around Christmas.
Michael looks his best there..what a really funny bloke he was..so witty.. (Nicky can come out with some killer lines as well.!)

Wow how wonderful to see you all again I remember all those in the picture and I have only fond memories about them all including JK who is the most wonderful host at Trader Vics and The Hilton Amsterdam, John Lennon Suite, to name a few.
Stan Phillips was The Troggs Manager and he was famous for wonderful parties at his Wiltshire White Cottage Home, no Orgies I'm sorry to say, I remember no drugs either, funny we must of been the only party not on sex and drugs but rock and roll, we were all into fine dining and good wine, but it was wild so much Stan found out he had a Brain hemorrhage and was going to die in six months, so he took us Including Michael to his grave and asked us to dance on it.
Then they went around the World staying with Rod and getting sicker, so came back on the QE2 dying, then there was a big who ha, who was going to pay Nicky's Am Ex joint card with Stan, who had both spent 20000 pounds each as Stan was dead his debts. they of course died with him, but Nicky his Nurse, had to pay his, even though he had no money, I think lol oh what wonderful memories, good luck JK your such a good host and I have only fun things to say about you, I DONT KISS AND TELL

well Peggy Noonan it's odd how people can have mutual friends as I have with JK yet, I've never met the famous Mr King.
And they echo you in your somewhat slightly mystifing post-they only have very kind things to say about the man.
I did speak to JK once on the phone-years ago in New York and he agreed, even though I'd tracked him down completely out of the blue and he had no idea who I was-to see a young singer/musician I was trying to promote.
That musician reckons the half-hour JK saw him changed his life as the advice to concentrate on his musical talents and give up chasing a singing career has led to him being one of the most highly paid and sought out session guitarists in the world.
And he always credits JK for his career!(hopefully he remembers it was me who made the call:blink: )

Nicky has sent me several more pics from that era - go to Photos to see them; a link to one is below.
Stan Phillips, as mentioned above, managed The Troggs and was a lovely guy, looking rather like James Robertson Justice; he also brought me his nephew Brendon who I produced on many tracks - a very talented boy and we did have one big hit, Gimme Some; Brendon and I had a lovely long catchup lunch a couple of years ago and it was he who gave Nicky my contact.

agreed..sideburns are always a BIG mistake but that's a nice pic of Michael Summerton and I noticed there is an ice-bucket with probably a sensible and expensive wine or champagne..on the beach....
in the South of France..God ..it doesn't get much better than that!!

Didnt realise "Gimme Some" was one of yours JK.Had the single but dont think i used to look at the production credits then. Didnt he do a cover of ABBA's "Rock Me" as a follow up?. Im sure i heard it on the local radio station-Radio Victory. Im typing this and trying to remember the tune to "Changing My Life Wont Do" which i preferred to "Gimme Some" if i admit the truth but its been years since i heard it.Did he do an album?

Yes Giles - Brendon did Rock Me (I've done a video of my/his version of it on You Tube featuring Gordon Brown picking his nose) and recorded a brilliant self penned album with me that I'm thinking of putting on iTunes.
