Although he's not always quite on the ball. His son & once heir Lachlan,when running the Oz section of News Corp famously told journalists to cease using the internet as a source as it was a 'passing fad".

Lachlan sold up his shares, married a super model and now lives in semi-retirement investing in many things as long as they aren't media related.

The mantle has been handed to brother James now boss of News Corp UK but still with woes about the infamous phone tap debacle.

Undercurrents are brewing as the'flame haired' Rebeccah Wade tries to reign in the troubles.

And now 2 new scandals burst forth-one the famous "12 year old rape " admission from a young lass wired up to a lie detector to titilate gormless listeners. Calls are mounting calling the stunt 'child abuse' and the career of hapless shock jock Kyle Sandilands has crashed into the dust with the UK 'Idol' creators demanding his sacking. Now they are trying to work out how to re-record the first 3 shows already under the belt.

On top of this the radio station-AusStereo has lost lucrative advertisers-Qantas, Optus...worth $millions ..never to return which is crippling it's the stations network owners.. Fox Radio (owner-R. Murdoch).

Now a new amazing case bursts forth with the raid this morning where 400 Victorian and Federal police officers raided and arrested 4 immigrant taxi drivers , alleged to be about to attack a remote and highly guarded. electrified fence army establishment (with hand-guns).

Lo and behold-2 hours before police raids take place-the broadsheet, designed personally and much beloved by it's creator ( R.Murdoch) The Australian, just happened to publish full details of the raid including addresses etc.

Victoria has a brand new police commissioner-with a TV character action sounding name of Simon Overland-a young, intelligent , tough no-nonsense bloke brought in to clean up a force that was weighed down by a mass of gangland killings that saw 30 thugs shoot each other dead in city cafes and pubs over the past 10 years-the cops only just finally getting control.

Overland is the sort of cop I like-renowned for his honesty and integrity and one who hates bent coppers. He is fuming that the media seemed to have got information that could only come from a police source and published before the raids happened.

The unholy alliance between authorities, politicians and the police was always bound to end in tears.

Surely people know it can all end in an instant-in these days of crass fickle celebrity and with his show-one of Murdoch's radio network's most popular for advertising-now crashing even further as American Express pulls it's multi-million dollar yearly campaign from the network.

Sandilands hurried replacement began his first day with a long tales about dear Kyle's charity work including the re-uniting of 2 Vietnamese cousins-one in Sydney and one they flew from the USA after they had fled the Pol Pot regime.

Another instant backfire as both girls told of the sordid blackmail tactics where one girl was told she had to pick from 3 doors to be re-united with her only family member alive-and picked the wrong door having been told she could then only view her relative through thick glass but never meet.

Now a host of newspaper sellers confirm The Australian landed at their feet at 1am as they started early morning sales with the starling headlines about the terror raids-which were not due to happen until 4.30am.

And where did those newspapers sell the most-why only at Melbourne airport were bored taxi drivers queue to get some reading material..and oddly , many of those taxi drivers just happen to be of Somalian or Lebanese background-as were the alleged terroroists.

Victoria's no-nonsense police chief already has the media in his sights and won't let up on this one. He's already cut off police access to the media but when will silly politicians learn it's they who have the power-not the tabloids.
