Last month, the British ISP industry awarded ( Australian Communications Minister)Senator Conroy its annual "
internet villain of the year award" for his internet censorship policy.
*******
poor Senator Conroy who aligned himself with some wacky self-appointed "child protection" experts has got himself in a real muddle over his failed attempt to censor the internet. It's only a matter of time before Kevin Rudd moves him to Minister for Silly Walks but he just can't do it so soon after the election.
Now the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions has poured scorn on Conroy's plans.
Nicholas Cowdrey QC is a brilliant DPP and a thorn in the side of politicians everywhere, He refuses to bow to their endless claims to "crack down on crime"-he castigates them over their tough anti-bail laws that sees the poor bunged up for months before trial...he criticizes the police and drops cases all the time. As a University student radical he's risen to become the top prosecutor on the side of the accused.
And they just can't get rid of him as he has lifetime tenure.
