TOPIC: The Last Words Of Simon Dee
#48792
The Last Words Of Simon Dee 14 Years, 8 Months ago
As related on "Last Word" {R4, today}.
Dee is revealed in his final days as dreamer, idealist and, ultimately, optimist. I agreed with every word of his last letter to a friend. And I'd recommend a listen when it appears on Rado 4's "Listen Again" page.

The difference between now and the 60s was that people believed they could change the future for the better.Perhaps that is why Mr Dee never really survived as a celebrity after the 60s ended? Just like Austin Powers was frozen as the world moved on.

RIP Simon, the flower that wilted at the end of the most creative decade in our history.

Sorry, IA, I think you may have missed the point {my fault, probably!}. I wasn't referring to Mr Dee's 1960s carreer, but to words he penned shortly before his death, not looking back to some imagined halcyon period, but taking a look at where we are today.

Sorry for what I just did to the page formatting.
