To catch a paedophile 14 Years, 7 Months ago
I saw ITV were doing this show tonight and read about it in my TV mag. One senior police officer says that one man they caught was a big surprise because he didn't fit the usual sterotype. He wasn't a "dirty old man in a raincoat". What an ignorant thing to say. The police have been continuously telling us that paedophiles are ordinary respectable people and that is how they win trust. They then abuse that trust. There is no physical stereotype. I can only assume that this show is to help spread further paranoia about an already over exaggerated problem. I think that is highly irresponsible.

To Catch A Police Murderer 14 Years, 7 Months ago
What is the profile for a POLICE MURDERER ?

1. Racist

2. Turned on by wearing a uniform

3. Low IQ

4. Delusions of power

5. Hatred of the human race

6. Extreme Right Wing or Left wing views

7. Unsuccessful at school

8. Unpopular growing up.

Yes - I am sure these things apply to those gun carrying members of the UK police who shoot innocent people like DE MENEZES - IAN TOMLINSON - THE LONDON LAWYER - THE HACKNEY CHAIR RESTORER.

I just find the way in which the MEDIA portrays the POLICE is totally scandalous.

It is time they let someone like me run a REALITY programme to show what the POLICE really do to people.

We would talk to young black youths - we would talk to real victims of crime for whom the police ignored them - we would interview the families of Charles De Menezies and Ian Tomlinson. We would talk the the Stoke football fans - the Hereford United families who were gassed when POLICE attacked them at Worcester Foregate Street in the worst case of POLICE VIOLENCE towards women and children that has never reached the national media but which scandlised the West Midlands.

Yes - our POLICE are out of control. They need to be disbanded - banned from reality TV - and replaced with a proper security force BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE rather than POLICY ENFORCERS for an illegal Prime Minister who has never been voted into power.

Road Wars,Street Wars, Cops with Cameras, Cops with snarly doggies. crime as entertainment. We watch it on tv as the old lady next door gets robbed just as we watch cookery programmes while we tuck into our microwave meals. You suggest in your post that the Police should be disbanded and replaced with a peoples security force. Great idea which was suggested by Karl Marx over 100 years ago only he called it "Workers Militia". We would have to have a government of the people for this to happen, are you suggesting a revolution or a rightwing takeover by the bootboys of the BNP? Certainly the Police(a French word that means informer) need reforming but i cant see NuLabour or the Tories (formerly a name for Irish bandits) taking this one on. Audrey Farrells excellent book "Crime Class and Corruption(Bookmarx) is an excellent analysis of the polices role in society and why it is for THEM rather than US. Or if you fancy going back to a time when there was no Police force as such then check out Peter Linebaughs superb book "The London Hanged-Crime and civil society in 18th century London". Fascinating social history, reads like a novel and leaves you hungry for more about the period. It covers a time when the spectre of the Tyburn "Triple Tree" loomed large over wrongdoers. It tells of Turpin(fact and fiction) and Jack Shepherd and of the range of punishments the law had at its disposal once the "Thief Takers" had done their work. The reason we like our Police tv shows is that it shows the police getting their man. It was the same in the sixties with good old Dixon of Dock Green. I daresay it was the same back in the eighteenth century with the "Penny Dreadfuls". Although what the criminals of the eighteenth century would have made of "Community Support Officers" is anyones guess. Theres your peoples police force and for the most part its as useless as a cat flap in an elephant house(to quote E Blackadder). They are known as CHIMPS - Cant Help In Most Police Situations. Check out the first of the new series of "Dispatches" on Channel Four.

When a community is allowed to police itself then it becomes safer. The residents get to know each other. Anti social behaviour stops because the others do not accept it.

Organised crime gangs etc will always need a national police force.

But local crime is easy to solve. Peer pressure is far superior than the any other pressure.

In a truly educated and enlightened society the Police are not needed.

Bizarrely in parts of the World where there are no Police there equally is no crime to speak about. Think about it !!!

Not sure that there is a such a thing as a truly educated and enlightened society, unless it's one that programs it's citizens in the way China and the USSR used to try to do. Even then you get those who rebel.

Which parts of the world have no crime? Even in Pigmy-land there is crime. It's just called something else and dealt with in a different way. Human nature always leads some of us to break the rules.

There is no such reality as an ideal Utopia.

Britain used to have no police force, and communities kept their own order. This, I believe, is one of the reasons why we originally created a police force. The real problem is that the police have lost sight of their original objectives and the fact that they are here to serve rather than oppress.

My partner came home to find her home ransacked. Valuables taken and the place in a mess. Outside the front door where used needles. In a distressed state she phoned the local Police (a five minute walk away) to be told "someone would be round later." 3 days followed and nobody showed. We went round together and were told there was nothing they could do. Noting that SEVEN Panda cars were sitting outside, we could not believe what we had just experienced. Needless to say, watching the afore mentioned propoganda fueled cop shows, makes my blood boil. Incidentely, the last decent programme that represented cops was "The secret policeman." Can anybody remember it?

I think this week we have learnt :

1. Most police are in the Police Station ( playing cards - surfing sites like this one - I bet we have thousands of Police reading this stuff ! )

2. The other Police are out raping and pillaging and running their own criminal enterprises using "insider information"

Therefore when real crimes happen to ordinary people in 2009 they are too busy to deal with us.

Occasionally they will come out for one of the two following things :

3. Celebrity Crime : The police see their job as PR - and so arresting any celebrity makes them look great. Many of them would be X factor contestants but they know that no one would vote for them !!

4. TV Reality Shows : Many people join the Police today because you have a higher chance of starring in a TV show than even the acting profession. There are so many COP shows that it has become a way for frustrated actors to get work. Dont laugh there are even some well known pop singers who have joined the Police in the last 10 years who have had major label contracts ( I know of two personally )

That is why we need to rip all of this up and start again.

The Police are a FAT ORGANISATIOn which is past its sell by date. We need it to be dismantled completely a new approach and new type of policing. They are institutionally corrupt and the majority of people see them as part of the problem - not the answer.
