Mental Health : Talking Therapies - well done Government 14 Years, 6 Months ago

This is a fantastic Government initiative and we should all spread the word about this excellent plan to expand the help given to people with depression - bi polar etc.

As EASTENDERS portrayed last week in a very emotional way the reality of living with someone who has mental health issues - these therapies really do work. They usually work as well as any drug treatment.

So well done to those people who have created this and I hope anyone who needs help can now get it. Our mental health is just as important as any other aspect of our health and in many ways it is more important. Being able to have a positive outlook on life when the World is a pretty depressing place if we only see what TPTB want us to follow on TV and in the media is important.

Remember there is nothing in life that we cant deal with and come through. The next few years may be difficult for many around the globe but as Billy Ocean used to sing " When the Going gets tough....."

great link and post, BR- thanks

I have suffered from (at times serious) mental health problems for a few years now. Mental Health treatment in the Nottingham area where I am is very good.

What I would say is that CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is not the answer to every problem, tho it seems to be the buzzword at the moment.

I had several series of CBT sessions which only skimmed the surface, as my problems went way back to early childhood and CBT is better at treating 'episodes' of anxiety/depression rather than more deep-rooted conditions.

But this is definitely a step forwards and thank you BR for highlighting it
