I bought some D3 from Holland and Barrett a couple of weeks ago. I consider myself healthy. I train at the local health club 3 times a week, eat a low fat/salt diet, don't smoke and hardly touch alcohol. I'm sitting here typing this with a runny nose, sore throat and thumping head. Quite disapointed really. Do you have shares in D3 BR?

I have no shares in it - have just read the research and seen it work for me and friends !! with amazing results.None of us are getting it from Holland and Barrett though - we are getting the real deal SOLGAR or from RED ICE which is in the form of fish oil rather than tablets. This is meant to work better because the body often disposes of vitamins and supplements without assimilating them.

Basically if you are taking less than 1000iu per day then it wont give you any protection against colds and flu. In fact the recommended dose in the Northern Hemisphere for colds and flu is around 2000iu.

I have not had a cold or flu for about 10 years. Before then I had them four or five times each winter and often painful ear infections arising from the head colds. 95% of this has been due to healthy eating. This year with Swine Flu out there I am double protecting myself with D3. So far so good.

The improvements I have noticed already - I have problem teeth and gums.....and when I upped from 1000 to 2000iu these problems have improved dramatically....I have a serious back problem which has gone immediately on 1000iu - the injury is still there I am sure but the stiffness and problems have gone....

That is my experience in the last 6 weeks.

As I mentioned above - it has had an almost miraculous effect on one person in my family who could not walk and had been in physio etc with no real improvement - she suddenly got up one morning after a week on D3 and could walk again !! I am just passing on my experience with this - and if you read the website you will see it is fairly common. Obviously it is not a silver bullet for everyone - because only 60% have D3 defficiency - but I realise now that I was very defficient in this vitamin hence its massive impact for me. If you already got alot of sun and were very healthy then its effect would be less impressive especially at this time of year when your Sun D3 should be at its highest.....

Neither have I. I eat a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruit and veg and regular exercise.

And no need for supplements.

My back problems dont allow me the luxury of decent exercise sadly.....but I have eaten healthily and got enough sleep !! hence my 10 years without a cold or flu.

D3 is an insurance policy - rather that than a vaccine which is unproven and potentially dangerous. But having started it - I have found the usual benefits of D3 really good as I have outlined above.

sorry to hear you have a bad back, BR- and if D3 helps then go for it.

I had back trouble for a couple of years and know how much it can affect everything you do.
