DNA : Government start to back down 14 Years, 6 Months ago
www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/oct/19/innocent-dna-database

Nearly a year since the Government was ruled against about their retention of DNA from INNOCENT people.

Looks as if they may give up the fight to criminalise millions of innocent people.

This has been a shocking episode in our countries history - and the sooner all this DNA record is destroyed the better.

Only issue for me is that there is stil no DATE by which it must be destroyed - so it could be a case of Government wriggling again......

COME ON ALAN JOHNSON do the decent thing and keep the law not break it.

Let's hope this is true, BR. The government's current stance is indefensible.

Speaking as someone who has a personal interest in this matter, this is good news.

I've even had a letter of support (in my campaign) from Prof Sir Alec Jeffries (the man who discovered DNA).

Well over a million - maybe 2 million I reckon - will have an interest in this DNA removal.

Not a single person or their families will even consider voting New Labour whilst their DNA remains as a Political Statement on the Police State records.

All of us who have publicly opposed this Government have been harassed by the Police. Either financially or by false arrests and DNA retention. No conviction or even charge required to create a "criminal record".

This has been the most evil period in our Countries recent history - when innocent people have been Politically arrested and DNA retained to try and "fear" them into stopping blogging etc. Journos and Photographers particularly have been targeted if they have had anti New Labour bias.

The day this stuff burns is not a day too soon. Lets hope this is not yet another false dawn.
