Discovered this morning that my email account had been hacked. At 3.00am this morning, without my consent, my email account automatically sent out mail to all my email contacts. The contents of the mail was info on purchasing electronic goods with a link to their website. I have ran various anti viral software since and am assuming thats the end of it. Very strange and a bit concerning. Wondered if anyone else had the same experience?

Are you sure it was your account or someone has just forged your email address? The latter happens to me business email address quite often.

The emails sent from my account were set up as a vacation signature by another party. No sure if that defines a forged account or a hack. Is this stoppable?
