I won't be watching Question Time 14 Years, 7 Months ago
I've gone off it anyway and personally am simply not interested in Mr Griffin or his party. Not for me.

This is a desperate attempt by Question Time to get some publicity for its dying format I agree.

The best way to stop the BNP is to ignore them. All these riots just make it worse......

I may watch it just to see what happens.......

I'll watch it out of fairness. I cannot really criticise a party without first listening to what they have to say. If they have anything to say.

didn't the Green Party get more votes than the BNP at the last European Elections? Yet when Caroline Lucas is on Question Time she doesn't get the same blanket coverage in the lead up to her appearance....

hmmm

Because, David (and I only watched the first 5 minutes then turned off in disgust) it is a good story... the only thing that matters today.

So clever politicians sneak things through (like treating a section of the community like the Nazis treated Jews) whilst boosting the hate figures and stirring up extreme reactions for the media.

Turned out I only watched the beginning and the end because I remembered that the Marty Stuart Show was on Rural TV. Much better than any kind of politics.

I may watch the rest of QT on iPlayer.

I only saw the first half, will watch the rest on sky+.
It just seemed like a 'lets attack Nick Griffin show', rather than a debate. Jack Straw, must have loved it as he wasn't the one under fire for a change.

Also it is hypocritical for New Labour and the tories to criticise the BNP's opinion on Iraq, when New labour are involved in a war killing thousands of innocent muslims and the tories support this war.

Also Jack Straw said that millions of blacks and asians fought in the 2nd world war, this was a gross exagerration, it was 100s, maybe 1000s.

Nick Griffin's views:

Britain is overcrowded = true

The whites are the indigionous population of britain = true

immigrants are used as cheap labour and thus depress the wages of the white working class.

It's more than likely that the original Britons were white, and it's a firm belief that they all had red hair which counts out blondes and brunettes. However, there have been non whites, for example Asians, living here since Roman times. They came here on trading missions and some stayed. We were then invaded by other white nations who interbred and so we cannot say who is truly pure blood British. Some non white Brits probably have roots going back further in this country than many whites do. It could be that Nick Griffin is less British than some of those he wishes to expel.

Ok, I've seen this b4, its from nearly 10 years ago, I'm sure that there are pictures of Peter Mandelson in communist party or David Cameran at a fox hunt (which he now opposes)

He's just talking about putting a spin on his ideas, I guess New Labour don't put a spin on anything then?.

Purity is usually considered to be a good thing, its just how you go about it that is right or wrong. I think countries should obtain some element of identity, which the uk is losing. If you go to Spain or Turkey, most people want to venture out into the 'real' spain or 'real' turkey (i.e. the places that aren't full of brits and british bars etc.). In the uk there is increasingly less and less places that maintain the british tradition and are filled with Indian and chinese takeaways, Kebab shops, polish supermarkets.

Also an influx of Eastern European immigrants has lead to increased crime levels, women are been trafficked into the sex industry and have to work as virtual sex slaves, do we want this in the uk. I'm not for a complete ban on immigration, but like most people much stricter controls or even a virtual complete shutdown for a year or two. Jack Straw said that we want the most talented people in this country (i.e. he wants to screw up other countries by draining them of their talent). What he means is he wants foreign talent which is cheaper than british talent and thus balls to the british, I'm sure br will agree with this.

All politics is spin and different ways of saying things have very different meanings
e.g. we want the most talented people from abroad to come to this country, really means foreigners work for less money, lets get them in and make more money for big bosses and increase unemployment for the uk working classes.

We need a party that represents the uk working class, the bnp isn't it, but not all of their ideas should be dismissed just because some of their ideas are abhorrent.

My personal feeling on immigration is that I think all countries should have totally open borders and let in anyone who wants to come. Society should then decide how government deals with the population. End of story.

are you suggesting Eastern Europeans are more likely to be criminals?

I spent many years in Hungary and felt perfectly safe walking the streets of Budapest (and other towns) at all hours.

I partly go along with that, JK. Open the borders and have free travel, but enforce laws regarding begging and vagrancy, and don't allow benefits or free healthcare (apart from emergencies) until the person has paid into the system in some way. This way we maintain both freedom and order.

My recent experience of Eastern European countries is that they have quite good communty style policing and have learned much from their turbulent past. Unlike here in the UK where we seem to be adopting the old ways of the Communist era. This may be why many Eastern European immigrants end up going back.
