A really delicious chicken and mushroom pie from Waitrose, heated up and eaten with a fantastic salad of organic tomatoes and special balsamic vinaigrette.
With my new favourite drink - Perry (pear cider) but I wish they would make a low/no alcohol version as they do with apple cider.
Whilst I'm about it - Friday I bought two thick slices of fresh salmon in M&S, fried them lightly in olive oil and ate them with tartare sauce, cheddar cheese mashed potatoes and chicory salad and it was fantastic - and quite cheap.
This weekend we nipped to Waitrose and have decided to bake our own bread. The stuff in the shops is so full of junk and we seem allergic to Greggs stuff - and Farmers Markets bread costs rather alot.
Therefore in our healthy eating drive we will be trying to make Wholemeal Bread...... Will let you know how it goes.
As for PERRY - the best perry is WESTONS - and it is a lovely drink. Not too alcoholic either.
I like eating Herefordshire produce - Waitrose do Hereford Beef - Hereford Cider and Perry - Tyrells Crisps - Hereford strawberries. M&S do most of the above as well. Buying from the South of England is far preferable. Much of the stuff we eat is imported from Kenya etc. which cant be good for the environment or for the nutritional value of the food.
Waitrose and M&S seem to be cutting their prices with their value ranges - which is good in this depression.
