Why ?

Marlon is black and Gerrard is White and the darling of England. He was never going to go to jail because the judges in this country are too scared to jail a high profile England international.

Marlon King was jailed for hitting the woman who hit him first by the way. I love the way the media are zoning in on the so called sexual assault which was a simple bum grope. Let this be a warning to the women who see it fit to pinch my bum, I will bleat about how humiliated I am by such a despicable act.

Marlon is yet another victim of racist Britain and received a stiff penalty because of this.

I think that King should be jailed for punching the woman and breaking her nose. But I think Gerrard should be joining him and do his time for a very public assault. Of course they will never jail him or Rooney for that matter. As for the bum groping = sexual assault, will any woman be jailed for groping the Chippendales ?

I feel that it is right that he goes to prison for breaking someones nose. It isn't because he was black that he went to prison and Gerrard, didn't it was more to do with lack of evidence.

Also King has a string of past offences to his name, so don't paint him as some innocent victim of racism.

Racist my arse. This thug got exactly what he deserved, whether he is black or white. He has a long history of doing this sort of thing to women and got exactly the correct punishment. Another example of the rich and famous thinking they are above the law and can do anything they want, well I am afraid they are not above the law as this case has proved.

Gerrard's event was clearly a fight. This was assault and Marlon King has a horrific criminal record of assaults and other crimes . People like him never change and the colour of his skin is irrelevant. Joey Barton isn't black and he got jailed (twice now)

Yes but Jonathan King had a big fuzzy afro "hairstyle" and sang about "Johnny Reggae" so maybe the judge thought he was black too ?

Don't try and tell me that black criminals do not get stiffer sentences in the UK.
They all should get stiff sentences. Gerrard didn't come anywhere near a jail sentence because he is Gerrard.

Hard one to call,these two were very different incidents.
The Gerrard one was on camera,while this one no doubt relied on verbal evidence.
I personally think Gerrard should not have hit out first,but only used self defense.

True that blacks are over represented in court appearances,but that can be as much to do with their economic environment as anything else.
King is foreign,and his attitude towards women is quite prevalent in the West Indies.Women are viewed differently.Even 30 years ago here I doubt if it would have made court.

Bottom line is none of us knows if either player was guilty,but as King was a sexual assault we do know the police would have pushed much harder for a conviction,it's in their blood.

Gerrards case was against a young fit man, whilst Kings case was against a young girl, whom he sexually assaulted and broke her nose. There can be no excuse for this behaviour and he deserved jail.

And Lee Hughes got 6 years when someone died after a result of his dangerous driving and Steve Finnan got nothing. Depends on the judge and their interpretation of the law.

You have to read the story objectively to understand what happened and that comment about West Indian attitudes to women is precisely the point. Nice to note how you are saying Marlon King is NOT English or British but West Indian. @Mikemacca so is Old Nick getting your vote then ?

I am not arguing that King didn't deserve jail but I guarantee you that if it were Wayne Rooney in his position the whole coverage would be played out differently. He pinched/grabbed her bum (depending on which report you read). Have you not had your bum pinched in a club (by a woman may I add) ? Hardly sexual assault is it.

Gerrard was caught on CCTV. What must he do to be jailed. If he were a nobody or dare I say a black man, he WOULD be doing time. Racist Britain will see to it.

I tend to see less racial bias and more judicial incompetence but have no doubt that society today has values most confused especially when it comes to celebrities, as I predicted when it all happened to me nearly 10 years ago.

"Innocent Accused" made the quote about West Indian attitudes NOT me.

My vote goes conservative as it always has done.

Marlon King is a criminal who includes beating up women among his crimes. He has dozens of crimes to his name, so one could argue he should have been locked up considerably earlier and maybe he would have been had he been Muslim ?
