BBC MAN FACES CHILD SEX CHARGE
Monday November 2,2009
By Daily Express Reporter

A SENIOR BBC producer has been charged following a police investigation into child sex abuse.

He was named last night as Martyn Smith, 44, who has been charged with 14 counts of making indecent images of children.

Smith, of south-west London, appeared before magistrates in central London last month and was bailed.

He was arrested after his office at the BBC’s west London HQ was raided last month.

Iain Livingstone, assistant chief constable of Lothian and Borders Police, said the case had been referred to the Met after his identity was linked with Operation Algebra - the investigation into Scotland’s biggest child abuse ring. Two ringleaders were jailed for life last week for their part in the operation.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyn_Smith

He is quite a big gun at the BBC - looks as if the BBC is showing the same "Game" as the Political Establishment ( the two are very interlinked )

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the 31,000 on the Sex Offenders Register by Occupation at the time of their arrest.

Over 10% seems to be Political Elite - which is very high for a job which does not include contact with children. Most are related family members as we know from statistics.........

Good spot. I think Martyn Smith is the head of BBC Sport now ?

The Sun has the story now.

'Paedo' BBC boss accused
By ANTHONY FRANCE
Published: Today

A FORMER BBC boss who worked on Match Of The Day faces 14 child porn charges.

Senior producer Martyn Smith, 44, has been accused of possession of indecent photos of children.

Smith - who masterminded the Sport Relief charity with MOTD host Gary Lineker - was arrested following one of Britain's biggest paedophile investigations. Operation Algebra, led by Scottish police, uncovered 125,000 sick images resulting in the jailing of eight men in May.

The cops alerted Scotland Yard about London-based suspect Smith. Iain Livingstone, Assistant Chief Constable of Lothian and Borders Police, said: "We referred a case to the Met which involved a senior figure at the BBC.

"The individual was in a very senior position and he became apparent to us during Operation Algebra. We passed that information on and he has now been charged and has appeared before a magistrates' court."

Divorced Smith, who took early retirement from the Beeb in 2007, joined BBC Sport 20 years ago.

He was also part of the BBC Sport team that persuaded ex-PM Tony Blair to play tennis against Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash at London's Queen's Tennis Club to publicise the 2004 Sport Relief event.

In 2006, he documented Little Britain star David Walliams's cross-Channel swim.

Smith, of Wandsworth, South West London, appeared before Westminster magistrates on October 12. The case was adjourned.

I'd rather not read more thanks !

not sure what all those tenuous connections to other people mean. I'm surprised they didn't comment on how 6 miles away there is a nearby school:S

Interesting piece and links SMITH to TONY BLAIR.

There are many "rumours" flying around the internet about TONY and his possible involvement with all of this as well. Interesting that the SUN has name checked him in this article.

The DAVID ICKE forum has a THREAD devoted to this.

It seems odd that he suddenly retired at the age of 43 when he was obviously a senior figure.

I thought the original story said they took his computers FROM THE BBC.

I smell a real cover up going on here. BBC - Friend of Blair - and pushed out of the back door quietly.

To date, unless I missed it, nothing about this arrest has been mentioned on the BBC news.

Is this in fact Martin Smith - co-producer of Weakest Link, or is Martyn Smith a different person ?

Well, BR, it appears you have both boots on and have jumped with some glee at this one. It's all very well to go on ad nauseum about "coverups" and the like, and you excercise your rights of free speech on this subject with your usual gusto. But there's something I just don't get here, and I must ask you a very simple question. If the all powerful BBC are colluding with the Government and its "Paedo Elite" {and presumably their puppet police force who, you claim, are also complicit in the trafficking of child pornography by the same people "at the top"} on this "coverup"... why was this man arrested at all?
I'd suggest that the BBC are not commenting at this time for legal reasons or an understandable sense of embarrassment at what one of their number has done. I know more than a little about becoming a "non person" myself from my own experiences as a bona fide elephant in the room.
It's not right for them to remain silent on what looks like a major news story I'd agree. But, as we all know very well, what's sauce for the goose is rarely a condiment suitable for dressing the female of the same species where the media are concerned.
Duplicitous, yes, certainly. Sinister? I'm not so sure.
