TOPIC: Ian Blair on Question Time

Ian Blair on Question Time 14 Years, 6 Months ago
I had a hatred of this man after the Menezes affair, but he was really good on Question Time.

Truly people are multi-faceted.

He did not become boss without being able to say the right thing.

Every person is complex. We have the capability to be wonderful or rubbish !!

This Blair failed in public office but hopefully he has learned from that.

I would like to believe he is a decent person at heart.

I have to admit that I nearly spilled my coffee {no, that's not a metaphor, you grubby minded sods} when he said he was opposed to us going into Afghanistan. A real surprise for me. I actually found myself saying "Yess!!!" and {very nearly} cheering him to the echo. Not a reaction I had expected, which is good. Everyone should have at least one nice surprise every day.
Incidentally, where were the LibDems last night?

good question, LO

They always get squeezed out, yet even tho they are the '3rd' party, plenty of people vote for them.

I really liked them under Charles Kennedy and Menzies Campbell* and could like them if Vince Cable were leading. Unfotunately, Nick Clegg is trying too hard to be like David Cameron.

(*why is it pronounced Ming lol?)

I agree Locked Out - I was shocked by that !!!

Perhaps now he has had time to think things through about issues he realises that his original positions were wrong.

Our public leaders dont take enough time to think things through. There is much knee jerk policy making that is done - which leads to bad policy.

Left to his own devices it seems Mr Blair has come to his senses and now realises that the "rest of us" who were telling him these things years ago - are actually right.

Killing other people is never going to be the way forward towards making the UK or any country safe.

David-
"(*why is it pronounced Ming lol?)"
It isn't. It's pronounced "Mingiss". Ming is simply the shortened form. Why it's pronounced that way is a question for a Scot, and as I'm only half way there I can't answer it.
Hawick, Strathavon and Milngavie are other splendid examples of the fact that while Scots might be able to speak their own dialect, they don't have the remotest fucking clue how to write it down.

In exactly the same way as the English, when pronouncing for instance, Magdalene College, don't.
Regards,
Alistair Dunreekie

BR-
Ta, unlike you to take such a charitable view. I'm not too sure how far I'd trust his "change of mind", though!
