234 UK service personnel killed on the ground in Afghanistan.
Why?
We are told {as in "this is the current excuse"} that they gave their lives so that the UK remains free from terrorist incidents. Yet the only non Irish Republican terrorist attacks on British soil in recent years have come after the invasion of Afghanistan. Before we shackled our wagon to the wild horse that was George W Bush's foreign policy and galloped into an unwinnable guerrilla war {along with the Iraqi adventure which is already being written about by historians as "the greatest British foreign policy disaster in living memory"} this country was largely peaceful.

Now 286 people are dead as a direct result of the "War on Terror". How many more before we replace arrogance with pragmatism?
Makes you want to weep.
