TOPIC: Food post - herbs and spices

Interesting opinion piece in the Guardian about Cinnamon - one of my favourite spices (and records).

My other huge favourite is Coriander.

Whilst I quite understand the hatred for these trendy designer herbs, I adore both of them.

I also love cloves (my secret bread sauce ingredient - visitors to my home for roast chicken dinners rave about my bread sauce and sometimes even take it away for later reheating).

Not mental for rosemary or thyme - both inedible. I don't like inedible flavour enhancers though I cannot resist ginger.

Garlic? Fabulous especially roasted and soft.

My three essentials for more interesting living;
black cardamom, Basil & Garlic.
Just wish I could get decent meat here. Without having to pay through the nose.

There are so many variations on curry,both flavors and brands etc it's hard to know which one to buy.Then add in all the prepackaged sauces,concentrates etc.
Oh for when I was a boy,the lack of choice actually made it so easy.
