Interesting. I wonder who would not pay a ransom if they could afford it?

JK, if you had the opportunity would you have paid a "fee" rather than face your case? Remember it's not as simple as the bad get convicted. Look at it this way ... a small fee to guarantee no jail - or take your chances and face poss long sentence (even if innocent?)

I remember the criticism of Michael Jacson "paying off" one of his accurors ... but in reality the amount paid was small change to Jackson.

I was offered the opportunity to "pay off" the witnesses (and refused)... also to plead guilty (and refused) and would still do the same as I did, despite the result.

He seems to have some support within the community.
