Awful Janet Street Preacher article in Mail 14 Years, 4 Months ago
The totally talent free zone that is Porter has written two pages of acidic, bitchy, dreary, unfunny crap about I'm A Celebrity for the Mail.

Isn't it time the paper dumped her?

I'm quite happy to admit I've never watched any of this celebrity gunk. Not even been curious about it.

I have tried watching the following - but now NEVER watch them :

1. Big Brother. Awful chav programme with no redeeming features at all.

2. Celebrity. You just look at the participant list of Z list stars to know that the is is a scraping the barrell show.

3. X Factor. I like music - therefore watching this is like being stuck watching a kids talent show. Aaah didnt little "X" do well.....crap but it sells records so well done Simon for the ultimate "novelty" record.

I find Britains Got Talent interesting because it is an audience based show and it has unearthed the ONE genuine talent out of all these talent shows. Susan Boyle ( who would have failed an X Factor audition at the first hurdle because of her age and looks ) but I would not watch it regularly.

I find that people who live their life via the TV reality shows actually are likely to have a warped sense of reality. They actually think that anyone can walk off the street and become famous......which is not true.....there are more failures even amongst the winners of these series. Anyone who has talent would generally not enter these contests unless they were desperate.

We need a TV Music Chart to be seperate to the REAL artists out there - or they will KILL the rest of the music industry. I am happy that they exist for the little kids and grannies - but in the end if they continue to dominate sales and the charts they will drive the real bands to give up on music as a career because there is no future in music if you cant get into the Top 10.

I'm with you, Emma- it's never held the slightest bit of interest for me.

As i'm probably the only one who's attempted to watch "Celebrity" I'm not surprised at all that most of those with negative comments have never even seen the programme. I gave the show a chance but it wasn't up to the "standard" of previous years. The saving grace however, was the ITV2 Zoo TV follow up show once the live show was over. Allowing its guests (along with Porter) to ridicule the format and its participants was a stroke of genius. Ms Porter hit the nail on the head with her observations. How refreshing to watch an unbiased programme that never took it self too seriously. Too low brow for some maybe, but I guess there's always been an air of snobbery around the reality genre.

I dip in and out... will watch fragments of X Factor tonight between far better Alan Bennett repeats on BBC2 - but only to confirm awful Ollie or dreadful Danyl will get dumped tomorrow leaving the way clear for my Joe to walk it.

I haven't watched it either. Personally I'm fed up with celebrity based shows. They seem to have stemmed from when Children In Need thought it would be fun to have newsreaders dancing or Soap actors singing or TV chefs doing a striptease. As one offs they might be a bit of fun but when they cram the TV schedules week in week out it gets tiresome. I'm sure TV could make umpteen quality new dramas with the fees they pay out to these celebrities.

Hopefully this phase will pass, or maybe TV has simply given up on trying to provide quality output due to the popularity of DVDs and the speed with which top movies, etc. are released onto that format.

My TV highlights this week were my 54th viewing of Poirot's Cornish Mystery on ITV3 and the remastered Balance of Terror episode of the original Star Trek on CBS-action.

it was sort of shallow wasn't it ?. But then so is the show.

Why do people keep calling it a "jungle".? There is no such thing in Oz-it's a tropical rain forest.

I've stayed at the Palazzo Versace and it is glitzy and bad taste but I love it. You need to have someone else pay though. Just like Janet who got herself a free trip for writing a bit of nonsense, probably with some stopovers somewhere sensible.

Personally-I avoid this sort of countryside expecially after reading this bit in the local newspaper :
www.smh.com.au/national/from-the-land-of...s-20091205-kbzu.html

"Driving through the scarecrow honour guard, we run head-first into another Stephen King-style moment: giant spiders have invaded the town's only motel. They are monsters, like tennis balls even in curls of death, and we're told that no one, including the local pest control man, have seen their kind before."

bloody giant humongous spiders in the Oz outback ! Global warming ?..brrrr

Never stopped her going in to try and promote herself. The stupid out-of-touch, silly old cow holds no standing with anyone these days so all she can do is slag things off.
