I have to agree with you, JK. Tennant has loads of verve and enthusiasm for the role, but somehow I just can't accept him as the Doctor. Age may have something to do with it: I think it's very difficult for any actor to play an authority figure (which Doctor Who definitely is, and always has been), if they are under the age of 40. But DT's performance is far too 'zany' to appeal to me; his acting is very much on the surface, without much depth - a stark contrast to the likes of Hartnell, Troughton and Tom Baker (or even Peter Davison, come to that).
Christopher Eccleston was, imo, the best Doctor since Jon Pertwee - I'm sorry he didn't do more, though I understand entirely his reasons for leaving.
