Spectacular Dr Who but I must say I feel Russell T Davies got out at the right time.

Superb though his reign was, I think it's time he moved on. He was starting to have delusions of imaginative grandeur.

Bye bye David. Hello Matt.

Interesting that 2012 - PLANET X ( Nibiru ) and Ascension were both themes in the Finale.

Thought it very moving when the Doctor went around to say goodbye to all his ex companions......made you realise how much he had done.

I really liked David Tennant as the Doctor. Matt Smith will be superb - he has all the right attributes.

It was a tremendous finale for David Tennant and Russell T D. Both of them deserve much credit for making Dr Who such a brilliant series over the last few years.

Always good to move on and I agree with JK - now is as good a time as ever.

Re:WELL...... 14 Years, 4 Months ago
I meant to tune in to see the change over, as I haven't missed one (until now). Totally forgot. I couldn't bring myself to watch either of these episodes as I could tell from the trailers that RTD was going to go completely overboard. Too much emphasis on the Doctor dying when, in fact(ion), he was just going to regenerate. The Doctor will only die at the end of his 13th regeneration. To a Timelord a regeneration is just like passing from stage of life to another. He remains the same person with the same memories and has no need to say any goodbyes.

Did he really say goodbye to "all" of his ex companions? Jo Grant, Jamie, Leela, Victoria, etc?

I'm thinking that this two parter was more about RTD than the Doctor. The producer became larger than the show, which definitely meant it was time to go. I know I didn't see these episodes, but I also base that assessment on other RTD episodes .. and if even JK thought he'd gone over the top then he must have.

I'll probably find the regeneration scene on Youtube. I look forward to following Matt Smith as the Doctor, with hopefully much better writing and production.

Could never get on with Tennant as the doctor. It was that strange mockney accent that made me cringe, and the constant shouting.

Matt Smith looks interesting..

I think the tone of the new series is going to alter itself dramatically.

More quieter, a bit more 'dramatic' as opposed to 'epic' but with wit and humour, Moffatt hasn't failed yet.
