Jonathan Ross Quits BBC 14 Years, 4 Months ago
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8445581.stm

Not surprised as they did treat him like a naughty schoolboy. It was quite pathetic.

I wont miss his Friday night show though.

Although it will be back on Channel Four I expect.

Quite right too. Neutered by lack of support. The BBC had its backbone surgically removed; since humanity seems to have suffered the same spinal operation, let's all do down with the ship.

BBC News 24 seem to be making a meal of it though. More reporters outside his house than there are outside of Downing Street.

Quite right.

The BBC now dumbs down its last presenter with any brains.

I like Graham Norton - but he is a "Kenny" tribute act.

As for replacing JR with Mark Kemode ( as the Daily Mail has suggested ) this would relegate the film programme to a post midnight specialist slot !! HA HA !!

The BBC will find that they will have to pay MORE per programme to secure JR's services - so he has just negotiated himself a pay rise per hour because each programme will be sold on an individual basis rather than a bulk salary.

The idiots who are cheering this decision ( all of them dumbed down New Labour voters ) because JR is one of the few at the BBC who is not a card carrying member of New Labour - will have to eat humble pie when the BBC is re-launched after the next election.

The BBC is finished as an organisation. I believe if JR fans all refused to pay the license fee after JULY the whole ship would go down within a month.

A publicly funded TV channel should have a decent level of programming. At the moment we see the BBC pandering to the dumbed down agenda that has given us reality shows instead of proper programmes. Even BBC news now never checks its facts before announcing stories - and accepts crazy stories like Global Warming without ever checking out the fact that there is still no proven link between CO2 and temperature - not one study yet to prove that global temperature is effected by CO2 in any way.

An interesting debate...what's happened to the BBC? And why? Not sure what they'll do after Cameron wins the election by a landslide majority with New Labour clearly falling apart at the seams and it's only January 7th. The beeb still has a lot going for it but it's political agenda stinks. It has muted freespeech on all of its messageboards. It's news reports are biased and uneven. Top of the Pops was axed, denying an entire generation a show which was loved for decades.

They have stopped listening to the majority of license payers.

Trouble is ahead.

Although I agree that he is a very good broadcaster I think that it was right that he was suspended as his actions were really the bullying of an elderly man and should not be telerated.

I don't think he will get anywhere near as much money anywhere else in the uk because commercial stations are in disarray with advertising revenue severely reduced in the recession.

I've never met any successful entertainment person with the slightest flicker of interest in making money - or, if they have, they lose the creative skills that got them there in the first place.

I reckon if Jonathan was offered a high profile slot on a major network he would do it for free.

If he has any sense he'll do an hour long show at 9pm every night on 5.

In my view, Ross already works for the best tv network (probably in the world). Which other network could provide such a wide range of drama, documentary, news programmes, live events, and comedy.

I can't see Jonathan working for five, someshow they could never afford him and you don't see many other very high profile stars on that channel. He will probably go to sky or work in the USA as they have the big bucks and he can join his mate, Russell Brand in the states.

I'm not saying that he just wants the money, however money = status and thus he wouldn't want to have a decrease in his status.
