Barack Obama - set up for failure? 14 Years, 3 Months ago
you know, when everyone was leaping for joy and saying the world was going to change with the election of Barack Obama in November 2008, I felt a bit alone.

I do like the man- he is a gifted orator, has a sharp brain and and I believe his heart is in the right place. All good.

But when I said that I thought people were being overly optimistic, that one man, however great, cannot on his own change the world overnight, I was shouted down as a nay sayer, almost as if I was against Obama, not seeing the miracle that everyone else was. I was not a nay-sayer at all. I was simply saying we should live in the real world.

I was kind of right tho....

It seems that the media have now decided to knock him down, just as they built him up. They created the good story of the messiah, they are now creating the good story of his downfall.

Personally, I still prefer the middle ground. I do believe he is an intelligent man with very good intentions, but we live in the real world.

Bad set back Republican senate win; may screw up his brilliant health insurance reform.

Many of those who voted for Obama have very little patience or understanding. The reality is that no President of the USA can just click his fingers and make everything perfect. He had a lot of damage to undo, and new foundations to lay. He needs support from the majority of members of both Houses, and even then things take time.

Unlike some Presidents, he's achieved 75% of his promised goals within his first year.

His attempts to close Gitmo have been hampered by rival politicians, as has his health reform bill. The people voted for him knowing (if they actually listened to what he was saying beyond his main slogan) that he would reform health care and send more troops to Afghanistan. Now they oppose him because he is reforming health care and sending troops to Afghanistan. Are they for real? Those in Mass. who have just voted in a Republican have complained that Obama is not making changes fast enough, but now they have made it even more difficult for him to make those changes. That totally defies logic.

Overall, to this neutral observer, Obama seems to be doing a good job so far.

I thought he was ok. Sad to say those who said he was a puppet may be proved right.

The NWO run our governments now. The PM and President are window dressing and are chosen by the NWO and are yes men.

Health Insurance......Guantamono.....Iraq - Afganistan - etc . Nothing changed.

I think he should just ram through his health reforms and just coast along for the next 3 years.

That's easy said than done but after watching Michael Moore's film on health again you just know it would be such a popular move he would be hailed as a great president.

Have a feeling though he will be just a one-term president...the media fix is beginning.

Well, if you elect a president in the midst of perhaps the worst economic crisis in the history of capitalism, solely on the basis of his nice smile and the fact that his media image is the opposite of the imbecile you had previously elected...

CNN's estimation of 75% of promises kept was a little misleading, but the following link shows that Obama is generally on course. How many world leaders manage to push through all of their intended policies? (Absolute dictators don't count.)
