my favourite comment on the piece :
"Well said, Brendan O'Neil. There is nothing the British media like better ( and this includes the majestic BBC) than gloating over someone's woes, especially when the people involved are poor and from the developing world. They could not wait for the rioting to start, they had been predicting this from day one. If there is such a place as hell it would be overcrowded with British journalists. The good news is that fewer and fewer people are prepared to pay to read their trash.

The current state of journalism is one of collapse.
Mirroring this piece was a TV report in Australia where the news crew claimed to have rescued a baby from the rubble before our very eyes.
Anyone with half a brain could see that it was the 2 Haitian helpers they had hired who dove in and dug with their bare hands to get the baby out whilst the reporter yabbered on thorugh the entire rescue- graciously handing over his bottled water for the rescued baby for a sip-took it back and then claimed credit for the rescue for his TV station !
