FATTISM ! 14 Years, 3 Months ago
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8471451.stm

Hopefully FC will agree that there is far too much fattism in society.

No one has ever produced any stats to say that being fat is more dangerous than thin. In fact most cancer sufferers that I know who died young were thin - which gives food for thought.

Now FAT people have to pay more to travel - and perhaps will be banned just for being a different shape and size.

Why is a FAT person any different from a THIN person.

We are all people.

I think it is as bad as discrimination on race - height - colour - sex.

Typical of the FRENCH to be so fattist - especially when their food is full of fat !

BR I'm bemused- how are 'the French' (your term for Air France) being fattist- the article is about the airline offering overweight people a free second seat for their comfort.

Sounds quite considerate to me.

Agreed BR. My problem is a medical one of course. I eat too much. I've been called a 'fat bastard' in the street many times by your chavvish types, mostly ignored, but on occasion I have given them the FC special...a swift elbow in the ribs. The French can go and do one. Besides Paris has gone right off recently. Ah...it's lunchtime.

And how many people were in this scientifically-conducted sample study, 2 or 3?

Well, if I could choose my race, height, colour or sex I might agree with you. Extreme weight issues are are in the vast majority of cases self-inflicted, and it's inappropriate (and offensive to those who have really suffered from discrimination) to make that comparison.

(PS in case it matters, I'm no body-nazi, I have quite a muffin-top I'd rather be without!)
