They gave almost half an hour of their news to one interview, which is why I like Channel 4 news. So many news programmes go for soundbIte journalism, which is one reason we are in the mess we are in now.

What I found interesting was that both Clarke and Mandelson seemed to agree with each other on so much they were saying, except that every now and then they felt the need for political purposes to 'strongly disagree'. However, there were so many moments when Peter Mandelson was talking and Ken Clarke said "I agree" and vice versa.

Now it is very unlikely that I will vote either Labour or Conservative in the election, but I have to say I could quite easily see both men in the same government and doing a good job- tho they would need a few people in their cabinet who were not multi millionaires just to give them a shot of the real world.

I like Ken Clarke - he is my MP and my dad, who was a senior civil servant, often reported to him and spoke very highly of the man. I could do without his vested interests in the tobacco lobby, but nobody is perfect.

Anyway, a very interesting debate, well done C4.
