Pardon me for the preemptive thread title. But I have little doubt that when the brouhaha has died down and the findings are returned there will still be three fundamental questions which indeed will remain unanswered if only for the reason that they will remain unaddressed, yet surely they are central to the issue.

1. Was the war legal or not?
2. If it was, why all the fuss?
3. If not, when can we expect some prosecutions?

And since when has ignorance of the law been any kind of valid defence? It certainly wouldn't work for anyone else.

I think Iraq and Afghanistan demonstrate that if the crime is large enough you can get away with it.

All your questions are most relevent locked out but don't we all know nothing is going to come out of this except 'recommendations' for the future ?.

By contrast there is absolutely no interest here in Oz in Chilcott yet the then PM John Howard didn't even get a parliamentary vote on entering the war, just pandered along as a poodle for Bush and Blair.

Several intelligence experts resigned before the war stating th information about WMD was false only to
have their careers destroyed.

Howard always claimed after the intel was wrong which then meant he was lied to by his allies, or by intelligence services and so on. Nothing to worry about though-just forgot all about it.

6/7 years later he says he sleeps confortably despite a million dead.

The war is legal because Tony Blair says it was and persuaded the AG to say so.

Though 99.9% of lawyers worldwide and the UN say it was ILLEGAL - the only person who mattered in all of this was Blair/Bush.

This goes to show that if you are a member of the elite ruling class of the World ( NWO ) you make the laws bend and sway to suit yourself. Black is White - War is Peace - The Sky is green and the grass is blue. Repeat after me......

Chilcott is so far two enquiries - the ordinary people who had no power but saying it was wrong and illegal : and the Government ministers saying it was Tony's war. Tony Blair will not be tried for war crimes - though he should be along with BUSH.
