but the point I'm making is the english didn't start it for once and yes I know it will all kick off when they're kicked out.

I had an interesting conversation with a German ex-pat last night... 17 Years, 10 Months ago
..The person, moved to England a while back. And said, what she hated about the World cup most, was that it reminded her of school, in which her teachers, slammed the message down her throat all the time, about how everything that is wrong with Europe, the Germans are to blame for.
I had never seen or heard this view before.
Obviously, she was getting the expected stick at the do we were at, from the English ranting(jokingly) about things like" weeeerre gonnna beeeaat you " etc.
She said she grew up thinking, that the Germans were inferior, and yet, she proudly arrived draped in a German flag, in English style.
I was delighted to see at the end of the evening, an English supporter proudly wearing her flag, and I have never seen so many English footy fans supporting Germany.
This has to be a good thing, and I hope it is not an isolated incident.

There are alot of England supporters in Germany because its relatively close, and cheap to get to. Little trouble last time (in Japan) as it was out of reach of most "supporters".

They can probably even have their dole money sent to Germany too !

Not wanting to add oil to the fire or anything, but a brief glance at many newspapers in the UK gives a very scary view of the country to anyone from Germany or France. But that's just the loony tabloids, you might say. OK, then carry a pen around with you and note every time you hear "jokes" about frogs and krauts. The back of your hand will be blue pretty quickly. You don't really notice it until it's pointed out to you.

My son's 12 year-old team went to play in Poland a few years back. They turned up on the day all proudly wearing Polska T-shirts they had found in a tourist shop. The reception they received would bring a tear to the most cynical eye (and probably defused any vibes when we later won the tournament). Sometimes it doesn't take much to turn footy into the celebration it is meant to be.
