Great idea by the UK POLICE - hypotise your suspect into pleading guilty

Amazing stuff from our POLICE STATE.

How anyone can trust the POLICE now is beyond me.

I'm a bit torn both ways here BR !
It's a slippery slope but anything that educates coppers and makes them better at their jobs is surely a good thing.

Before Chistmas I briefly met the scientist who Lie To Me is based upon, He was giving lectures with the Dalai Lama and is teaching the FBI his techniques that include how to detect in a face, emotions fractions of seconds before they lead to an action.

I can see this working for good and bad.

Sounds like this will have similar reliability problems to lie detectors. People react in different ways. They interpret in different ways. Nervousness can cause misleading responses. An expression on one face might mean something different on another face, and similar with body language.

It's akin to the reliability problems of psychological profiling, and will no doubt distract police officers from the searching for and gathering of genuine, material evidence.

I'm not sure how any of this makes them better at their job.

btw, I might as well add that I was drawn to this thread by the title which I believed - despite being on the wrong board - was about JK's 'Plead Guilty' track being covered by a band called Hypnosis.

I'm not sure it would suit the death metal genre, but it would be an interesting experiment.
