TOPIC: Typical Tesco

Typical Tesco 14 Years, 2 Months ago
Just shopping - no staff except those stupid checkout machines which always go wrong; one lady did appear on a till so I went to her "Do you have a Tesco club card?"... "no"... after totting up my prices "Do you have a Tesco club card?"...

I couldn't resist asking her "Didn'y you ask me that before?".
"Did I? What was your answer?".

No wonder the number of unemployed is rising.

On the subject of Tesco .. in Coventry, a Tesco store refused to sell a slice of quiche to a 24 year old woman unless she produced some ID to show that she was over 18.

It's appalling. I was in one last year and asked this girl stacking the shelves if she could direct me to the peppers and spices...she just pointed nonchalantly and didn't even make eye contact with me. Did I raise hell? You bet! I arrived at their customer service desk which was disguised as a tobacco counter and demanded to see the manager...they sent down an assistant manager and I demanded to know why their staff weren't properly trained? I said I would be contacting Sir Terry Leahy personally...I received a grovelling letter of apology from their head office and a £10 money card. Their money card you can only spend in ermmmm... Tesco!

I do tend to have shop staff dancing and hopping like serfs about me if I don't get the service...I can bellow for England.

But Tesco is very cheap and nasty. I avoid it now.

Oh Tesco. Generally very rude staff, with a few friendly and helpful exceptions.

One day at a Tesco checkout I was waiting to be noticed by the girl as she filed her nails and casually chatted to someone behind her. I tried coughing but that didn't work, so I asked her if she was working today and she tutted loudly, tossed her hair and began to lethargically scan my items.

On another occasion I found my way blocked by an assistant in conversation with someone. I said excuse me, but was ignored. I repeated it, to be ignored again, so I said it loudly and eased my way between her and the shelving. She glared at me and snapped "Ever heard of saying excuse me?" I informed her that I had said excuse me twice but been ignored, and reminded her that without customers she'd have no job.

And as for shelf stackers who seem to think customers are intruding on their domain .....

I mostly shop elsewhere now.

Arrive there in your house coat and slippers. They really hate that.

Our Tesco has had a monopoly for years. Morrison's are about to build just up the road. I'm no great fan of Morrison's for the same reason I'm no great fan of Tesco. So why do you suppose it is that I'm really looking forward to the Morrison's opening? Simple. Everything I hate about Morrison's I truly detest about Tesco. D'you think either chain would give me a reward for that many plugs?
